Sex & Nudity

  • Warren's wife is stated on multiple occasions to be cheating on him. Lots of talk of infidelity.

Violence & Gore

  • A man shoots his wife, but it's revealed to be a blank.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character takes a large dose of LSD for an experiment and we see his reactions to the drug for several minutes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • We see a prisoner screaming while being dragged to the electric chair. The execution isn't shown.
  • It's cheesy fun. The "Tingler" itself is clearly being held up by strings whenever it's on screen, so any potential horror is neutered.
  • Several scenes of The Tingler creeping up on and attacking people by gripping their throat or arm in its powerful mandibles. Screaming paralyzes The Tingler, and so attacks rarely result in serious injury.
  • The Tingler, a parasitic organism, is an obvious prop, pulled along on strings, but could still be creepy or "gross" to small children.
  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman experiences several horrifying "visions", including a bathtub that fills with blood. The blood appears bright red while the rest of the film remains B&W.
  • During a surgery scene, we see The Tingler removed from a human spinal column in silhouette. It drips blood. We later see The Tingler covered in blood (in B&W so less graphic).

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A woman experiences several horrifying "visions" that cause her to "die of fright". She is mute, and incapable of screaming, and so it is implied that The Tingler crushes her spine.
  • A meek character who the movie makes you sympathize with is later revealed to be a scheming villain. It is discovered that he staged events leading to the death of his wife. He is later terrorized himself, implying that he will be killed by The Tingler.
