Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Includes some dated language and dialogue concerning sexual and gender identity.

Violence & Gore

  • Early in the film, a character is brutally and repeatedly stabbed in the stomach. No wound is visible, but generous amounts of blood pump out as they die.
  • A character is decapitated. We see their silhouette as their head falls from their body.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The villain repeatedly subjects an elderly disabled woman to psychological torment. The woman is unable to speak, and so cannot tell anyone about her abuse. The villain takes sadistic pleasure in terrorizing the woman. This may be distressing or disturbing to some audiences.
  • The first act murder scene is violent and unexpected. After marrying a young couple, the Justice of the Peace attempts to kiss the bride, and she bloodily stabs him to death. There is much screaming and quick cuts that heighten the terror.
  • The finale of the film is highly suspenseful, beginning with Castle's gimmick for the film, "The Fright Break". A character approaches an old dark house as a clock counts down from one-minute, and Castle, in voice over, ominously and humorously offers audiences who are too frightened to experience the ending of the film the chance to exit to the "coward's corner". While tongue-in-cheek, the build up helps contribute to a sense of foreboding as the character enters the house.
  • The sequence following the "Fright Break" is steeped in dark lighting and ominous music as a character explores a dark and menacing looking house. The scene culminates with another character in a wheelchair descending a staircase via an automated conveyor. When they reach the bottom of the stairs, we see their head fall from their body in silhouette. The first character screams in terror.
  • The surprise twist revealing the villain's true identity may be startling for some audiences.
