FANCIFUL AND PLEASURABLE
J. Steed24 April 1999
Very enjoyable revue film, directed with spirit and obviously made with great fun by all involved. After the imaginative credits (or rather: credits sequence) there is a delightful opening scene in a nightclub (probably considered decadent by DEFA) and with all that the jolly atmosphere is set. Good music and lyrics, fanciful ballets and the knowledge that the film made a fool of DEFA officials and censors add to the fun. The film drags a bit in the middle, but this is compensated by a long, whimsical finale.

The film is shot in AGFA-color and that makes it a visual delight as well.
