The director was interviewed by the first TV channel of France on April 11, 1967, and extracts of the film were shown in a sort of "avant-premiere".
With a budget of about 600,000 Portuguese Escudos (a bit more than 3000 US Dollars), was one of the cheapest feature films in Portuguese cinema at that time. The money ran out about halfway through filming leading to about half the crew quitting. Director Paulo Rocha was unbothered as he felt that meant that those who stayed on were true professionals and committed to the project.
The film underwent a 2K restoration through the Cinemateca Portuguesa from the original 35mm negative under the supervision of director Paulo Rocha until his death in 2012, after which the supervision was completed by Pedro Costa.
