Swashbuckling , action , romance and dueling in this adventure B-movie . Below average story about the famous adventurer in Tortilla/Maccaroni Western style financed by Neptunia and Hispamer/Sergio Newman productions . Inferior Spanish/Italian co-production , made in Pasta/Chorizo style . Little spectacular as well as disconcerting swordplay in colorful style ; made in short budget and atmospheric scenarios , including impressive castles and strongholds . In 13th century England , dashing Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption of wicked Baron Notthinghan (Mariano Vidal Molina at his evil best) . While , his beautiful nephew (Paola Senatore) is engaged to a corrupt suitor and the archer Robin schemes a plan to free her . Robin reunites forces and helps unfortunates , and he leads an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power , foiling evil Prince John . When the Norman Lords begin oppressing the Saxon masses in King Richard's absence , a Saxon archer named Robin Hood (Charles Quiney at his swashbuckling best) fights back as the outlaw leader of a rebel guerrilla army . The legendary Sherwood forest's hero Robin Locksly again along with his Merrie men brought by him : Will Scarlett , Friar Tuck and Little John (Antonio Mayans). Story is indirectly based on historic events and is developed after third Crusade when Richard Lion Heart conquered Acre and in route England Richard was captured by Leopold II of Austria and ransomed by his own subjects . Meanwhile , the nasty owner Baron and his hoodlums (Pascuale Basile , Luis Barboo , Dan van Husen) take on the dashing hero Robin . At the end takes place a castle attack and the ordinary final confrontation .

This swashbuckler has mediocre action sequences regularly staged with no much stylish and vitality , adventure , fights in Hill/Spencer style , romance , final dueling and being entertaining but mediocre . There are some action sequences including the battles in forests and the thrilling ending fencing at the castle between Charles Quiney and Mariano Vidal Molina in the climax of the film . This inferior Robin Hood in Spaghetti style is an average adaptation inspired by medieval legends, the real or fictitious character Robin Hood , here starred by Carlos Quiney as a dashing adventurer avenger . So-so story in ironical tone about the famous outlaw adventurer and in Gazpacho/Spaghetti Western style . This embarrassing Robin Hood in Italian style is a mediocre adaptation starred by Charles Quiney in Chorizo/Pasta Western ; being filled with action , adventure , thrills , intrigue , spectacular fighting and humor . This Robin Hood was middlingly starred by Charles ,-Carlos- , Quiney , he took a chance and jumped from Pasta Western as ¨More dollars for the McGregor¨, ¨Bullets over Dallas¨ or warlike action : "Hell Commandos" , ¨When heroes die¨ and Zorro/Sandokan movies as ¨Zorro De Monterrey¨, ¨Last adventure Zorro¨, ¨Tiger of Kyber¨ and here playing a historical hero , Robin Hood . Quiney/Robin relishes his adventurous identity , swashbuckling , swording , executing bounds and leaps and climbing and throughly enjoys himself . In the movie appears usual support actors , as Spanish people as Mariano Vidal Molina , Luis Barboo , Luis Marin , Antonio Mayans , and Italian people as Pasquale Basile and Paola Senatore . But even the smallest characters are lousily represented . Shot by cameraman Umberto Lanzano on Spanish locations in Monasterio De Piedra , Zaragoza , including its wonderful waterfalls . Pretty good musical score by the prolific Francesco De Massi .

The motion picture was lousily directed by Jose Luis Merino , under pseudonym Joseph Marvin , and screenplay by Piero Pierotti , though resulted to be below average . Merino is a skill and successfully craftsman . He often uses same actors , such as Stelvio Rossi , Peter Lee Lawrence , George Hilton and Charles Quiney . He has written/directed numerous films of all kinds of genres , such as Terror : Ivanna , The hanging woman ; Euro-spy : Colpo Sensazionale Al Servicio Del Sifar ; Chorizo/Spaghetti Western : More Dollars for the MacGregors , Frontera Sur , Réquiem for the gringo , Gatling gun , Seven ride to death , ; Wartime : Last Panzer battle , Hell commandos , A Bullet for Rommel , When heroes die ; Musical : Europa Canta , Aquellos Tiempos Del Cuple , and his most successful films are the fresh and diverting adventures : Tarzan and King Salomon's mines , Rebelion De Bucaneros , El Zorro De Monterrey , and Last adventure of Zorro.

Other versions about this famous character are the followings : ¨Robin Hood¨ with Richard Greene directed by Terence Fisher ; "The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men" by Ken Annakin with Richard Todd , Peter Finch , James Robertson Justice ; ¨Robin Hood prince of thieves (1991) ¨ by Kevin Reynolds with Kevin Costner , Alan Rickman and Morgan Freenan , the same year was exhibited ¨Robin Hood¨ by John Irvin with Patrick Bergin and Uma Thurman but was a flop though the critics considered best adaptation . And ¨Robin Hood : men in tights¨ (1993) by Mel Brooks with Cary Elwes , Richard Lewis , Amy Yasbeck , Roger Rees . Furthermore , recent and revisionist version titled ¨Robin Hood¨(2010) by Ridley Scott with Russell Crowe , Cate Blanchet and Oscar Isaac .
