Never Mind The Dishes, Let's Go To The Sophia Loren Movie
boblipton7 April 2021
When a nun and a communist fall in love, it's shocking. Unless it's Sophia Loren, in which case, who could resist?

Miss Loren, having finally established herself as a fine actress a decade earlier, had been appearing in serious, adult roles..... but of course, the definition of "serious and "adult" in the movies had changed, and instead of considering issues of the world, theology and the problems thereof, the question under study here is are Sophia and Adriano Celentano going to be knocking boots. Working from his own script, Alberto Lattuada has concocted an engaging work, with a fine mixture ofpractical problems and sour comedy.

Mostly, though, it's an excuse to look at Miss Loren, just shy of 50, and still angelically beautiful in a nun's habit.

"Cuckoo's Nest" plunked down in Italy with a too nice Nun Ratched and a McMurphy who, instead of being a charming rogue, is an abusive perv. Maybe that's why there are only 3 reviewers!

Watch it for Sophia Loren
jrneptune30 March 2021
I am a Sophia Loren fan and I was shocked to see there were no comments about the movie other than from critic sites.

The movie might be a bit of an editing mess but I enjoyed some of the bits and pieces shown from Italian life and the culture clash going on then and which still goes on.

More importantly though it was Sophia Loren that saved a so-so movie and made it in something worth watching more than once.
