Sex & Nudity

  • Sex is discussed in several scenes. The two main characters are later seen in bed; sex is implied.
  • There is a nude painting that depicts rape scene from mythology. No details are shown though.

Violence & Gore

  • Harold talks about different ways he could kill people while fighting in the military (strangling them, slitting their throats, etc) and gets excited about the idea. He also talks about keeping body parts as souvenirs, including "private parts". This is supposed to be played for humor- he doesn't really mean those things or do them and is just saying it to scare someone.
  • There are several "comical" suicide scenes, played for laughs including hanging, stabbing, self-immolation, and character pointing a gun at his own face. Some of these have some blood and are depicted realistically.

Profanity

  • One character uses the middle finger
  • Not much if any. 1 use of breasts, Jesus christ, damn, ass and sex 2 uses of oh heavens and bastard 5 uses of hell

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters take drugs in a few scenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The general premise of an old woman and a young man having a romanitc relationship could be seen as very disturbing by some people. Th suicide scenes and frighten or upset some people though they are carried out quite comically. The humor of this film is quite dark.
  • Harold's mother's lack of empathy and boundaries might be disturbing to some teens.
