Warum ist das alles?

Warning: Spoilers
Dr. Karl Maria Wegner (Georg Thomalla, who else) needs a voice over to explain why his hair is blowing in the wind. Appearantly this big travel agent is planing to inspect the famous Park hotel by taking a holiday with his family under an assumed name. His children Gaby und Erich are not exactly thrilled about this. Meanwhile Bubi (Heinz Reincke) and his tiresome mammi are leaving their drug store behind for a stay at the hotel too. Guess which one is mistaken for the other by the hotel clerk eager to please the inspector? More useless voice overs let us know this place is supposed to be "einer oase der gesundheit". But who needs an oasis when your suitcases are missing?

Meanwhile, Bella has been looking after her uncle all her life. Now he wants her to leave him and start living her own life. This sappy sub plot is only here to give Erich a love interest. Gaby is already being chased by the junior hotel clerk, who encourages her to enter a singing contest. Should have seen that one coming, with her being played by Eurovision song contest regular Ireen Scheer. Even Thomalla is connected to some hot babe, whom he allegedly spend one night with (in one of his thousand other films I suppose). It's getting increasingly hard to tell all these characters apart thanks to their mid-seventies haircuts, especially with the same song being played on a loop in the background .

Naturally there is also the case of a stolen ring, leaving everybody hiding in the same bedroom with the scantily clad babe. and yes, you guessed it, the old broad loves krimi's and tries her hand at a bit of Kung Fu to clear up this mess. Soon Georg und Ubie Bubi have teamed up and are doing a triathlon of some kind. This multi-vehicle chase ends at Bellas uncle's house, where the true Inspector General can finally be revealed. Cue some more romantic walking through the woods and sailing in a boat. After all that, there's no stopping the schlagerfestival.
