The recent outpouring of sexual assault allegations is a watershed moment in Hollywood history, but there’s one question on everyone’s minds: What’s a conscientious feminist to watch on TV these days? The discerning yet moral media lover has found themselves in quite a quandary as admired directors, producers, actors, and comedians have revealed to have abused their industry clout to intimidate, harass, and assault. In response to this universal quandary, musical comedy duo Reformed Whores have composed a plaintive lament to the beloved talent left standing.
Aptly titled “Keep It in Your Pants,” their song begins: “Hollywood has been so irresponsible, each week it seems a new abuser is named. And while I’m happy that people are being held accountable, I don’t want it to affect the way I’m entertained. Of course I think the patriarchy should be dismantled, but not if it means...

Television is a medium known for its personal connections and incomparable scope. The same set of characters can tell stories for decades, visiting your home upwards of 20 times per year for so many years they feel like family members. Daunting at the onset and comforting in the long-run, the best TV shows are the ones that stick with you because you stuck with them.
As more and more programming floods the airwaves, competition is rising. Seasons don’t have as many episodes. Shows don’t run for as many years. Greetings are savored because goodbyes are often just around the corner — or, at least, they feel like it.
So it should come as no surprise that time plays an integral role in the best television series of 2017. From the exciting new friends found in “American Vandal,” “Dear White People,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale,” to the beloved vanishing faces in “Halt and Catch Fire,...

Edgar Wright earned some of the best reviews of his career with “Baby Driver,” which became his top-grossing film in the U.S. this summer and was recently named one of the best films of 2017 by the National Board of Review. Wright worked with Kevin Spacey on the film, but he hasn’t commented on the sexual harassment and abuse allegations the actor is facing until now. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director says he remains proud of his film despite being “troubled” and “distressed” over the accusations.

“The truth of it is that I only had a professional experience with him and I wasn’t aware of any misconduct during production,” Wright told EW. “I’m as troubled and distressed as I’m sure you are by the accounts that...

Kevin Spacey’s “inappropriate sexual behavior” on the set of Bryan Singer’s “The Usual Suspects” forced production to be halted, Gabriel Byrne has revealed in a new interview with The Sunday Times. Byrne says he was not aware until years later the actual reason filming was halted but admitted to there being rumors about Spacey’s behavior, to which many people on set joked, “That’s Kevin.”

“I did not know honestly then the extent of his violence,” Byrne told The Times. “I mean, he was kind of a joke in that people would say, ‘That’s Kevin,’ but nobody really understood the depth of his predations. It was only years later that we began to understand that [filming] was closed down for a particular reason and that was because of inappropriate sexual behavior by Spacey.

Update (December 5): Masterson has issued the following statement in reaction to being fired from “The Ranch” amid rape and sexual assault allegations:
I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix’s decision to write my character off of “The Ranch.” From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. Law enforcement investigated these claims more than 15 years ago and determined them to be without merit. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused. I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all. In the meantime, I want to express my gratitude to the cast and crew that I’ve worked so closely with over the past three seasons. I wish them nothing but success.

It’s no coincidence that Amazon released its period drama “Good Girls Revolt,” about 1960s-era female employees seeking equality in the newsroom, less than two weeks before Election Day. Although the feminist-friendly series is set over 40 years ago, the issues its characters rally behind are still as relevant today – and, in fact, have been a key part of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign platform.
“[Amazon] immediately knew that they wanted to market it before the election, that it would be the Year of the Woman, that Hillary would be running,” executive producer Lynda Obst told IndieWire earlier this summer.

In 1973, Sandra Hochman's documentary about the women's movement, featuring Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine, caused a sensation. So why has it spent 30 years locked in a vault? Douglas Rogers asks her
Warren Beatty looked bemused. This should have been so easy for him. He was the hottest film star in the world, the cameras were rolling and he was being interviewed by a gorgeous blonde who had the sexpot body of a 60s Brigitte Bardot. What's more, the subject was women. Or, more to the point, the women's movement. Perhaps he just wasn't prepared for the provocative questioning. When the blonde suggested to him that men might go to rehabilitation centres to be reoriented in society, his reply was rambling. She egged him on and he called her a female chauvinist. She calmly said she wasn't and he tried to sound smooth: "You think you've really licked it, don't you?...
