"Beim Jodeln juckt die Lederhose" or "There's No Sex Like Snow Sex" is a West German German-language movie from 1974, so this one is already over 40 years old. The writer ad director is Alois Brummer and he was actually pretty successful back in the 1970s with his sex comedies. This 80-minute movie we have here is perhaps his most known work. You get men and women of all colors in here, also of all shapes and all kinds of nationalities. A group of women arrives in Kufstein, a small Bavarian town and the local men are more than willing to introduce the new tourists to their bedrooms. And the women are at least as willing. So yes there is a lot of sex in here, but it is never a pornographic movie, just a sex comedy along the lines of Lemon Popsicle perhaps if you cut out the non sex-scenes. Oh well, there are non-sex scenes in here as well, but during these everybody is basically talking about sex. Honestly, there are really many sex-focused comedies from Germany (and Switzerland) from the 1970s, but most of them are honestly pretty bad. Let me just mention Ernst Hofbauer as a prime example of how not to do these films. But in contrast to him, Brummer hits all the right notes here. There are no absurd story lines in here and the film does not take itself seriously at all plus the comedy is also fairly funny in my opinion. I was positively surprised for sure. The fact that none of the cast members are known today (probably also weren't known back then) is not a problem at all. This is one of these movies that are not so bad that they are really bad, but so bad that they are almost good again. Of course you should not go into this movie expecting great story-telling or deep performances or anything, but if you do it is definitely your fault. The girls are hot, the men are willing and the ones-liners are entertaining. And hands-down, the Kufstein song is incredibly catchy. I am genuinely shocked that I end up giving this film a thumbs-up, but I do indeed recommend the watch. Comedy and Germany is not a formula that works frequently, not today, not back then, but here it does. Go see it.
