Early in the film, Costain remarks that the wild cattle on the farm will bring $20 a head "in California". Later, Mrs. MacAvoy sells them to the ship captain for $20 a head, on Kauai. While Costain might have underestimated their value in California, this writing could have been cleaned up a bit for it to make more sense to the viewer.
At the 1:07:21 mark one of the wild cattle has a brand - an x in a circle.
At the start of the film Chastain is found face down in the surf and unconscious. He is hauled out of the water and carried up to a farm house with no CPR.
Movies and TV shows seem to have a fascination with people face down in the water who are rescued and shortly afterward are "just fine". In reality, those people have already drowned, and unless CPR is attempted within a very short time, will not recover, and maybe not even then. Of course, for the era in which the film is set, CPR techniques were unknown.
