Quotes

  • Donna : Look, I really don't think I can do it.

Sandra : Sure you can. It'll be easy and you'll never even know what happened.

Donna : Now, you're just gonna take pictures?

Sandra : That's all. Donna, look honey, all you have to do is give him the pill. Just drop it in his drink. Then when he's groggy, we come in and take a picture. It's simple.

Donna : Well, is there anything extra in it for me?

    Sandra : A thousand cash.

Donna : I think I'm going to like working for you, Sandra.

  • Halloran : [in a motel room]  Candy for you, Donna, just like in the courting days.

Donna : [sweetly]  But honey, this IS your courtin' day, and I'm your best girl.

Halloran : Ha, ha, ha. Why isn't home like this?

Donna : Right now, this is your home.

Halloran : [Donna takes a while to make their drinks]  What's keeping you, sweetheart?

Donna : [secretly putting a pill in his drink]  Just fixing us a nightcap, Vinny.

Halloran : [Donna asks him to drink up]  But, sweetheart, look, it's only a few hours till dawn.

Donna : [facetiously]  Oh, I know. And then you're just gonna steal away into the sunrise.

  • Chuck : [after Hitchhiker drove away with Donna's car]  What's going on?

Gas Station Attendant : That lady took that car!

Donna : [who had been in the ladies room, walks over]  Where's my car?

Chuck : I think it's been stolen, Miss.

Donna : [upset]  Well, darn! Is there a phone I could use?

Gas Station Attendant : [nods]  Yeah... but it's out of order.

  • Chuck : So you're just a home-grown Texas girl.

Donna : Texas was a long time ago. Too long. Haven't been back since high school.

Chuck : Oh, I bet you just killed them cowboys in high school.

Donna : Oh, yeah. Homecoming queen, cheerleader, you name it.

    [they both chuckle]

  • Chuck : [Donna was driving a pickup truck down a dirt road, 34 miles from the nearest main road. The truck runs out of gas, and by chance Chuck pulls up in his truck, and walks over to her]  We gotta quit meeting like this.

Donna : [gets out of the truck, points a really big gun with a long barrel at him]  Just hold it right there, and put your hands up.

Chuck : [trying to calm her down]  Come on, you remember me.

Donna : [firmly]  I said UP, and I mean up!

Chuck : [put his hands up]  Alright.

Donna : [finally recognizes him]  You're that guy from the gas station, right? Well, whatta ya doin' out here in the middle of nowhere?

Chuck : I'm camped back there on the mesa. I thought you might need some help, so I stopped. Whose truck?

Donna : [referring to H. R. Stringham]  This guy was giving me a lift into town. But he decided he wanted to play games with me. Well, anyway, I got the gun, the truck, the whole thing now.

Chuck : Well, you're pretty lucky, that's what. You could have ended ass-up in a ditch somewhere.

    Donna : [seriously]  I know.

Chuck : [chiding her]  You're some judge of character. You ride with a stranger, when you could've rode with me.

Donna : [snaps]  Look, just skip the lecture! Now get over by your truck. You got any gas?

    Chuck : Nope.

[the first thing Donna sees is a big, 5-gallon can of gasoline in the back-seat of his truck, and she gives him a dirty look.]

  • Chuck : [Chuck and Donna are on a 34-mile dirt road in the middle of nowhere; Donna's truck is out of gas; Donna is pointing a gun at Chuck, she wants the 5-gallon gasoline can he keeps in his truck.]  A couple of gallons. How far do you think you're gonna get? It's a long ways between gas pumps.

Donna : [keeps her gun pointed at him]  Okay, then I'll take your truck.

Chuck : You better take another look at this road first. It's hard enough to drive by day, when you can see. But you'd never make it at night. You break down and get lost in this desert, and you're in a lot of trouble.

Donna : [her attitude toward him softens, she lowers her gun]  Now, just what would you suggest?

Chuck : Okay, here's what we're gonna do. First, we're gonna get into my truck and go back to the mesa, back where I'm camped. Okay? Build a fire, cook us something to eat. I got an extra sleeping bag, if you want.

Chuck : [Donna gives him a stern look like she will *definitely* want her own sleeping bag, not share one with him.]  And in the morning, I'll drive you into town. Believe me, it's your best bet.

Chuck : [he opens his truck's driver-side door, and Donna slides over to the passenger side]  Come on, if anybody's got anything to lose, it's me.

Chuck : [teasing, referring to her auburn hair]  Besides, you're not even my type, Red.

    Donna : [not amused]  Sure.

  • Donna : [Chuck is driving his truck very fast down a dirt road; Donna is being a "back-seat driver" even though she is sitting next to him in the front-seat.]  Watch that bump! Look out for the rock! Will you watch the road?

Chuck : [annoyed]  Will you watch the back for your "friends," and I'll watch the road.

  • Chuck : [in the desert, while 2 hired killers are firing bullets at them]  By the way, what's your name?

Donna : Now is a helluva time to ask!
