A rather anti-climatic cartoon.
OllieSuave-00712 October 2016
The Pink Panther feeds an elephant at the zoo and, after he ran out, leaves the premises. However, the elephant takes a liking to the panther and decides to follow him home. When the panther attempts to guide the elephant back into the zoo, he notices that the doors has closed for the night. So, the panther had no choice but to take the animal home with him to his apartment.

Not much laughs in this one, just plenty of simple gags in trying to get the elephant into the panther's apartment while trying not to arouse the suspicion of the apartment manager (our pointy-nosed man). The ending was rather anti-climatic as well.

Grade C+

Thanks to Global Warming and Mad Pianists . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . 180 of the 183 known species of elephants have been driven to extinction recently, geologically speaking. No one has suggested that any of these varieties of pachyderms--living or long gone--were pink in hue. While most pundits currently contend that America's so-called Pachyderm Political Party is "Pink-O," due to serving as the Red Communist Kremlin's primary organ for propaganda and misinformation in our beleaguered U. S. Homeland, this is more of a historical figurative usage than a literal description of skin tones. PINK ELEPHANT shows a reckless zoo patron endangering one of our few surviving elephants, colored in here in a gray shade. Malingering miscreants ranging from Liberace to William Joel pose an even more dire threat than the Pink Panther to these beloved largest land mammals, with all of their insisting upon abusing the tusks of murdered endangered elephants as they "tickle the ivories" with their Piano Man shenanigans.

How Do You Hide An Elephant?
ccthemovieman-126 June 2007
This was similar in storyline to a recent (and excellent) cartoon in which a fish in the ocean became attached to the Panther and followed him home.

Here we have an elephant who wants to do the same after the Pink Panther has fed him peanuts at the zoo. The PP doesn't want to get arrested for "elephant-napping" but the big animal cries like a baby when our hero leaves him. Soo.....he tries to smuggle him through the city streets unnoticed. Ever tried to hide an elephant?

You get the idea of the gags and the story here as the PP attempts to keep the elephant from being noticed. Even at night, it's not easy...but the real challenge is trying to get the elephant inside his little apartment without the manager knowing what's going on. That produces some interesting developments.

This wasn't as funny as the aforementioned "fish story," but it was still entertaining. It looked the like the writers didn't know where to go with this story, so the ending is not a particularly clever one

Entertaining if not among the best Pink Panther cartoons
TheLittleSongbird17 May 2014
There's actually very little wrong with Pink Elephant, most of it works really well but the ending is not quite as good as the rest of the cartoon, it lags in the pace a bit and gives a feeling of the writers not being entirely certain of how to round things off and instead going for a very routine one. The story though, while not much of a surprise- essentially it's very familiar Pink Panther formula-, is very cute and funny with good pacing, and the gags range from amusing to very funny(if not reaching hilarious). Pinky shows no problem carrying the cartoon, he has lost none of what is so lovable in the first place and is still a cool and funny character. The elephant is very sweet and matches Pinky in the humour department, this is not a case of one being better than the other. The animation is minimal and simply drawn, but it is also bright and colourful and doesn't look very scrappy at all. The music is as catchy as it always is, very jazzy in nature while not jarring with the cartoon's pacing too much. The theme tune is still timeless. All in all, not among Pinky's best but entertaining at least. 8/10 Bethany Cox
