Crime Scene Essen with Hansjörg FELMY and Maria SCHELL

Maria SCHELL and Commissioner Haferkamp's fifth case

At the beginning of the 1970s, the last remnants of the German-speaking film industry were almost dead. So former filmmakers had to look for new fields of activity in television. This is how it came about that in the 1970s, West German cinema often emerged on public television stations. The TATORT series also became a popular alternative location; the later ACADEMY AWARD nominee Wolfgang Petersen (in 1983 he was nominated twice for DAS BOOT) also gained his first experiences there.

But an appearance in TATORT was also lucrative for former film stars. The HITCHCOCK star Hansjörg FELMY (1931-2007), known from THE TORN CURTAIN, even became one of the most popular commissioners of the 1970s. In this case he is dealing with a real world star from the German-speaking film industry: Maria SCHELL (1926-2005)! She plays the sophisticated Evelyn Stürznickel (sic!), who shoots a burglar who is said to have previously killed her horrible father-in-law. The sexually very active woman quickly comes under suspicion of murder. But that's just where the whole story begins...

Beautiful pictures from Essen and the Ruhr area, Haferkamp visits the Folkwang Museum with his ex (Karin EICKELBAUM), cloudy impressions of a lake in the Sauerland. And BAFTA AWARD nominee Maria SCHELL (she was nominated for THE HEART OF THE MATTER in 1954 and for GERVAISE in 1957) wears frames that Sophia LOREN would envy. Nostalgia can't be better!
