Sex & Nudity

  • A woman in the first scene, presumably a prostitute, is in a see-through negligee - breasts visible
  • There is some mild sexual activity in this movie. Much of which isn't graphic at all, there is sight of a woman's bare breasts, and a woman's buttocks.
  • A man struggles with a woman at the start of the movie as she refuses to do what he had asked her to do. The scene implies some sexualised threat to the woman but nothing comes of it.

Violence & Gore

  • The movie contains strong scenes of violence and bloody violence, including violence where a child character witnesses some of the acts. There is an underlying sexually violent tone to some of the violence against the women in the film, though, this never results in actual rape.
  • Violence in the movie includes sight of various people being attacked and eaten by an alligator; a man having a scythe put through his neck while he continues to stand and struggle with the bloody wound & scythe; a sense of sexual threat as a man struggles with a woman's top before throwing her down steps; a woman being slapped violently and beaten before being tied up; a man being shot in the lower leg (not graphic); and a woman being hacked up bloody with a pitchfork.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There is a scene where a small dog is attacked by a crocodile.
  • The film contains an eerie, unsettling atmosphere throughout that some viewers may find upsetting or disturbing. There is a sense of unrelenting threat including violent threat to characters in the film, and some of this is sexualised threat to female characters which leads to violence.
  • There is a scene where a young girl (a child) is chased around by a man as she attempts to escape him. As she does so, she screams as the man takes pleasure in taunting her as he tries to catch her. His attempts at catching her are unsuccessful. The child is also seen witnessing a man perpetrating violence against a woman.
  • Some of the characters are portrayed as having apparent psychological disorders.
