The vessel used in the film was the Gloucester fishing schooner ADVENTURE as owned, at that time, Captain Jim Sharp of Maine, who restored and captained her. Sharp was present as an advisor during the filming. The 1926, fully-restored and operational vessel, Schooner ADVENTURE is designated a National Historic Landmark at Maritime Gloucester, (MA). Jim and Meg Sharp founded the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum, a lively maritime museum offering many programs, located in Rockland, Maine. Capt. Sharp's memoirs are found in his book "With Reckless Abandon: Memoirs of a Boat-Obsessed Life,"
