HEAVILY DRUGGED DRAMA
J. Steed25 September 1999
This is a dreadful and almost unbearable drama about a doctor who discovers acupuncture and along the way falls in love with Senta Berger because she sows a button on his overcoat; I always assumed that Berger had other attractions, but as I write this I suddenly realize what the connection is, wow what a clever script.

Not only the subject of the badly written script is boring, Liebeneiner directs with disinterest - and who could blame him. The cast seems to be on heavy drugs, with the exception of Heinz Rühmann who has a fine performance during 30 minutes or so but can not save the film; and what is his character doing in Hong Kong anyway?

To add some realism and life to the film Liebeneiner shows an authentic heart transplant, suddenly making the film into a medical information film; what made him think that this is needed in a feature film? You might be needing acupuncture yourself to ease the mental pain when watching this dud.
