Zen often interacts with the crew in an inconsistent manner. There are many times where either Zen is not being addressed and responds to questions, is directly addressed by name and does not respond, and either answers or not rhetorical questions posed by the crew seemingly at random. This is true whether the crew are directly looking at Zen or not.
The transporter system works inconsistently. Clothes and bracelets are transported plus anything that is being carried (e.g. bags, cases). But there is no way to tell if you are holding something or just touching it.
For example, if an object is is too large to carry and resting on the ground and only the handle is being held lightly, then how is the transporter to know if it is being carried and should be transported, or is just something being touched and should not?
If touching an object is the criterion for transportation then the chair, vehicle, spaceship, etc., you may be sitting in would be transported too.
Also there is also no difference between carrying a suitcase or, say, holding someone's hand or even carrying them. Which means that only one bracelet would be needed if everyone held hands.

In many episodes the team transport down to a particular place then walk, sometimes long distances, to their final destination past security guards, cameras etc. Also Vila is frequently called upon to use his 'hacking' skills to open various locks and doors.
But in many cases there is no reason why they could not have just transported down to where they wanted to go in the first place. To get past a locked door it is simply a matter of returning to the Liberator and then back to the other side of the door.

Many times the crew of the Liberator are unable to communicate or transport back to the ship as various captors take their communicators away. Yet none of them think to bring a spare or carry/wear it somewhere else, in a pocket or around an ankle, for example.
