M. Night Shyamalan’s suspense thriller Split was the number one movie in North America, scaring up an impressive $46 million in its debut for the 3rd weekend in January.
Shyamalan returns to the captivating grip of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs with Split, an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Following 2015’s breakout hit The Visit, Shyamalan reunites with producer Jason Blum (The Purge and Insidious series, The Gift) for the film.
While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.
Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others.

The fifth edition of Producers Lab Toronto is set to launch during the Toronto International Film Festival® from September 3 to 6, 2014. Ten producers each from Europe and Canada and four participants coming from Australia and New Zealand will meet at Tiff to exchange ideas and information on funding and co-production on both sides of the Atlantic and Down Under. Each year, this successful networking platform facilitates the development of several trans-Atlantic co-productions. Sixty-six of the 96 previous participants are working on 82 projects at different stages of production, with some of the films having since been completed.
The international networking event is organized by European Film Promotion (Efp) in collaboration with the Ontario Media Development Corporation (Omdc) and the Toronto International Film Festival®. During this year's Cannes Film Festival, 24 outstanding film producers from across Europe, carefully selected by European Film Promotion's member organizations, are participating in the Efp's networking platform, Producers On The Move form 17-19 May. In its 15th year, Efp again spotlights emerging European producers at Cannes who are eager to exchange their experiences and to cooperate on an international level. Efp's program results each year in several new trans-national co-productions and gives the producers a higher profile in Cannes.
The schedule of Producers On The Move includes working sessions, one-to-one speed-dating meetings and various opportunities to follow up discussions on future projects. For the first time, Eurimages has prepared a case study exclusively for Efp's program, which has been financially supported by the Media Program (2007-2013) of the European Union and the participating Efp member organizations.

Film is inspired by cult Norwegian band and stars Alan Hyde and Alba August.
Norway’s Producer On The Move Terez Hollo-Klausen is preparing a new feature inspired by cult Norwegian band Dryads, who played Manchester-inspired music in the early 1990s.
The film, called Dryads (working title) and due to start shooting next month, will star Alan Hyde (True Blood) and rising young actress Alba August (daughter of Bille and Pernilla August).
The film marks Sten Hellevig’s feature debut. The project has been co-scripted by Hellevig and American writer Randall Jahnson who wrote Oliver Stone’s The Doors.
It is being produced through Hollo-Klausen’s Anna Kron Films and Hellevig’’s King Of Popcorn. It is being put together as Norwegian/Us co-production.
It is being made with the full support of the original Dryads. However, the film is set in the present day and will feature original music rather than the band’s old songs...

It's one of the most coveted tickets to snag, so it's no surprise that the 2014 Super Bowl was swarming with stars in New York City tonight (February 2).
Everyone from Jennifer Garner to Aaron Paul made their way to Metlife Stadium to take in the big game between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks.
Even Hugh Jackman stopped by to mingle with his fellow industry folks and watch Queen Latifah belt out "America the Beautiful."
Before taking the stage, Queen tweeted, "On the move with police escorts to #SB48 :)" Watch her performance below!

It's over. Dish Network Corporation announced today that they will be closing the remaining 300 Blockbuster locations (apparently there had been 300 open Blockbusters — who knew?) in the next two months. On the move, Dish president Joseph P. Clayton said, "This is not an easy decision, yet consumer demand is clearly moving to digital distribution of video entertainment." (A sentence Netflix's president is about to get tattooed on his back.) Dish will maintain the Blockbuster brand in the form of "Blockbuster @Home," a streaming service for their TV costumers, and "Blockbuster On Demand" for online streaming. R.I.P., Blockbuster retail locations. You will be missed by bored 15-year-olds looking for a place to walk around and bullshit with their friends on a Friday night.Update: As the New York Times points out, these developments don't technically affect the 50 Blockbusters that are owned as a franchise by third parties. Though we can't...

Wonder Woman Pop Art
Des Taylor (known as Despop) has created some wonderful art. The team of Wonder Woman and Captain America is among my favorites, and that is perfectly encapsulated by the recent commission piece he did featuring the two of them, which you can find featured in the slideshow below. The art itself is fantastic, but above that, I personally believe that Steve and Diana would make a much better fit than she and Clark do.
As tempting as it is to make this post nothing but a rant on that particular subject, I will resist and instead focus on Despop's lovely art style. Check out the gallery to see more of his Cap and a lot more of his Wonder Woman, and if you enjoy it, you can find more of his work on deviant art or his official store.

An early Radiohead demo is going up for auction this September and is expected to sell for at least $1,500. The then-Johnny Greenwood-less group recorded it as On A Friday in 1986, laying down nine songs—some of which have never been officially released. Tracks on the cassette tape include “Fragile Friend,” “Girl (In The Purple Dress),” “Everybody Knows,” “Mountains (On The Move),” and “Lock The Door.” According to the auction page, the tape is being sold by someone who went to school with the band.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is one of gaming's biggest events of the year, but a lot of gamers don't have the opportunity to attend. To give fans a taste of the action, Nintendo has announced a partnership with Best Buy, essentially bringing Nintendo's E3 booth right to your local store.
Taking place exclusively at participating Best Buy locations in the United States and Canada, Nintendo's E3 demo stations will give fans the opportunity to check out some unreleased games that Nintendo plans on showing off at the event in Los Angeles.
Unsurprisingly, Nintendo is being pretty tight-lipped on what exactly will be on display at these Best Buy locations for the time being. However, the Big N has noted that details about specific Best Buy locations and the games on offer will be revealed in the coming weeks.

In addition to revealing "Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games," Nintendo and Sega announced a "worldwide partnership" on Sonic the Hedgehog games this morning, with the first title – "Sonic Lost World" – coming exclusively to Wii U and 3Ds.
"The onetime rivalry between Mario and Sonic has grown into a friendship that has never been closer," said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. "These announcements in conjunction with Sega demonstrate the commitment we have to bringing great games to the Wii U platform, and set the stage for our upcoming announcements at E3."
Details on "Sonic Lost World" are slim for now, but the title is being described as an action-adventure platforming game. Nintendo says they will have more information to share with eager gamers as we approach E3 2013 in June.

Nintendo has finally revealed a release date for the upcoming "New Super Luigi U," but the bigger surprises were the reveal of a new playable character coming to the Dlc pack, along with a standalone retail version that will be available shortly after the eShop version.
"New Super Luigi U" puts Mario's taller brother in the spotlight, removing the red-hatted plumber from the equation altogether. The retail version will deliver everything the downloadable version does, but it's aimed at players who do not own "New Super Mario Bros. U," allowing them to get in on the action without the original game.
Because Mario won't be present at all, Nintendo is introducing a new playable character in multiplayer modes. Nabbit, the devilish creature players chase down to retrieve items stolen from Toad Houses, will take Mario's place alongside Luigi and the Toads in multiplayer. Unlike the other characters, Nabbit can't be hurt by enemies,...

The creators of Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time" don't bury the series' 8-bit inspirations too deep: it's not uncommon for the series to play with the tropes of classic dungeon crawlers as animated hero Finn goes on whatever monster-slaying, treasure-hunting quest is set before him that week, set to a chiptune soundtrack. The season 5 episode "Mystery Dungeon" plays with these elements well, putting a mismatched group of the show's side characters together for an unexpected, stupid journey.
Anyway, that's all to say that D3 Publisher's announcement of their second "Adventure Time" game is a welcome one. Instead of going handheld as they did with the "Zelda II"-like "Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!," this fall's "Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don’T Know!" will be headed to consoles and the PC.

Top Shot is back on History, and this time around we’re in for the somewhat obligatory All-Star season. As reality fans know, you can hardly go through a few seasons of any competition without bringing back the contestants that hooked audiences, whether they did so in a good or bad way. Top Shot isn’t likely to buck the trend, and the cast list seems to bear that out. Fan favorites like Kelly Bachand, all the way from season one, are here, as are the competitors who were chasing Most Hated Reality Star honors… I’ll let you decide who that might be.
Though a huge fan of the show, I wonder about the extent to which those in charge have paid attention to what seems to be the overall reaction to the latest season. Whether you’re keeping up with the general reactions on Twitter and similar social media outlets,...

European Film Promotion has special programs highlighting talent in Berlin (Shooting Stars), a Producer Lab in Toronto, 10 Directors to Watch at Karlovy Vary, European Directors at Busan and a great networking party at Afm. For 14 years Efp has hosted Producers on the Move in Cannes. This year 29 producers from 29 different European countries will take part in the event from 18 to 21 May, 2013. The Republic of Kosovo* and Montenegro will both be represented for the first time this year with a producer. These are the producers who set the ball rolling on projects, forge coalitions and conjure up a film out of an idea. Film producers are increasingly looking past their national borders. In order to facilitate an exchange with similarly ambitious colleagues from other European countries and showcase their range of achievements, European Film Promotion (Efp) offers a platform for networking to carefully selected producers. 12 of the 29 producers are women ♀.
Looking back at the 2012 edition of Producers on the Move, almost all of the producers are still in contact with one another to follow up on ideas. 17 from last year's 25 participants (68%) are already working on 15 co-productions.
The group of former participants includes such internationally known and award-winning producers as Ada Solomon from Romania (Child's Pose), Bettina Brokemper from Germany (Bal), Louise Vesth from Denmark (Melancholia) and Siniša Juričić from Croatia (Sofia’s Last Ambulance).
Scheduled during the Cannes International Film Festival, the program provides its participants with an additional visibility they get at this melting pot for filmmakers, sales agents, financiers and the international media. Producers On The Move's schedule with pitching sessions, one-on-one speed-dating meetings and various opportunities to build up business relationships and to exchange knowledge enables the selected filmmakers to return home with advanced film projects and, sometimes, with a co-production deal. At the Producers' Lunch, they can, moreover, get in contact with participants from previous years.
The participants have already realized joint European film projects which were noticed on the international radar, but they still are on their way to becoming international players. Many of them produced feature films as well as documentaries, and some are additionally active in the field of animation films.
For the fourth time, Efp will be cooperating for Producers On The Move with the pan-European co-production fund Eurimages.
The following producers were selected by Efp member organizations from their respective countries:
Belgium
Anton Iffland Stettner, Need Productions
i.e. Home by Ursula Meier ♀
selected by Wallonie Bruxelles Image
Bulgaria
Konstantin Bojanov, Argentum Lux Films
i.e. Avé by Konstantin Bojanov
selected by the Bulgarian National Film Centre
Croatia

What an hour. Gossip Girl aired its penultimate episode, "The Revengers,” this week and it took us viewers all over the place. There was scheming, crying, a possible death and even an arrest...
Bart, Bass & Beyond. Taking the stage in this installment was none other than the evil Bart Bass. Seriously, I have watched a lot of TV... even a lot of bad TV. These shows have been full of corrupt characters - but still, Bart takes the villainous cake. He possesses layers of evil and it doesn’t help that he is so smart with his crimes. Could you imagine having a father worse than Bb? Yup, don’t think there is one.
Chuck continued his battle with his father and it finally started to peak interest again. These two had been having a tug of war for far too long. The fact that Bart would try to convince...

After lengthy negotiations, CBS‘ long-running sitcom Rules Of Engagement has been picked up for a 13-episode seventh season. The renewal will bring the total run of the series to 100 episodes. The order ends weeks of intense talks between CBS and Rules producer Sony Pictures TV that could not be concluded by the network’s upfront presentation last Wednesday. By Thursday, the two sides had reached agreement in principal and hammered out the license fee terms. Related: CBS Update: ‘Rules Of Engagement’ Talks Down To The Wire, ‘Mentalist’ On The Move CBS only ordered two new comedy series for next season — Partners for fall and Friend Me for midseason — so, as this season proved, having a reliable performer like Rules on the bench could come in handy. While it has not been a breakout hit of the size of CBS’ Two And A Half Men or The Big Bang Theory, Rules...

In the brand new "Savages" trailer, Blake Lively not only hooks up with "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Johnson, but also Taylor Kitsch, Johnson's onscreen best friend and partner-in-pot-dealing-crime. The best part? They both know about it!
If this movie wasn't also about Lively getting kidnapped and brutally held hostage by a drug cartel, then we would have said that she was one lucky girl.
It's not everyday you meet two pot dealers willing to go to war with Salma Hayek and Benicio del Toro. And did we mention that Kitsch stabs John Travolta in the process? He's seriously not messing around when it comes to his lady friend. After "John Carter's" major box office fail, it's not like Kitsch can afford to mess around either.
Oh, and Johnson's dreads aren't messing around either.
Directed by Oliver Stone, "Savages" arrives in theaters on July 6. It's based on the pulp crime novel by Don Winslow.

Forty-four years ago today, "2001: A Space Odyssey," Stanley Kubrick's classic science-fiction movie, premiered at the Uptown Theater in Washington D.C. While neither commercially or critically successful to begin with (the legendary Pauline Kael called it a "monumentally unimaginative movie"), it soon took off with audiences, in part thanks to its psychedelic closing sequence, and is now rightfully regarded as perhaps the greatest, and most prophetic science-fiction movie ever made.
To mark the occasion, below you'll find five key bits of info that you may not have been previously aware of about Kubrick's masterpiece. The film is currently available on DVD & Blu-Ray, and can be seen on Netflix: what better day than today to watch it?

All My Children star Jacob Young (J.R.) will be returning to his role as Rick Forrester on The Bold And The Beautiful on September 26, the Monday after the ABC soap airs its final television episode.
Young told TV Guide Magazine, "To let opportunity pass by during this time of uncertainty is just kind of silly. I couldn't wait around. I spoke to some of my cast members and advised them all to get out there in the business and see what's crackin'. Anybody with common sense would do that."
Young previously played Rick on B&B from 1997 to 1999.
On the move of AMC to the internet, Young added, "I've talked to a lot of the AMC production staff and they're saying that if these deals with Prospect Park aren't put in place by September so that the production and the writing can get back up and rolling, it's going to be very difficult logistically.

I’ve heard it said a time or two on these wide Internets that the Pretty Little Liars recapper from AfterEllen.com has some kind of nerve calling Ezra Fitz a lesbian. He is a man, for A’s sake! Didn’t Heather Hogan see his perfectly sculpted man-abs and man-pecs that one time he was walking around his apartment naked in the middle of the day for no raisin? I mean, what would Ian Harding say if he knew that bitch from Ae was calling Mr. Fitz a lesbian?
Hmm, what would Ian Harding say?
Ezbian haters to the left, please.
So, the Liars are pretending to enjoy a film at the Rosewood Cineplex, but are, in actual fact, rehashing the plot of last week’s episode, as is their wont at the beginning of each new episode. Spencer reads the minutes from their most recent secret meeting — “and...

Early adopters of the PlayStation Move didn't have a ton of great reasons to justify the purchase at launch but, over time, the line-up has definitely grown. The latest is "PlayStation Move Heroes," an action-based mini-game compilation featurinig some of Sony's most famous characters, Jak and Daxter, Sly and Bentley, and Ratchet and Clank.
The Basics
"PlayStation Move Heroes" begins in each characters' respective universe. However, each adventure is suddenly interrupted by a mysterious vortex that sucks the stars into an alternate universe where they are pitted against each other to see who is the biggest hero. Each of the six characters are competing in five different classes of games, spread out over four worlds. The five different game types (Jailbreak, Rescue, Countdown, Survival and Guardian) make use of five different weapons styles (disc, shooting, melee, ball, and whip) making for an assorted selection of gameplay, for both a single player and co-op multiplayer campaign.

After having time to really think about the sixth season premiere from last week, I have a few follow-up questions to my previous review.
Lingering Questions
First, seriously, what about Adam? Like Sam, he was possessed by an angel when he went into the hole/box. So if Sam was resurrected, is Adam still down there in the box? This has been bugging the hell out of me and I really, really hope that we’ll find out what happened to Adam. I also find it odd that Dean never bothered to ask Sam specifically about Adam when he asked about Hell. I mean, sure, maybe Sam doesn’t want to talk about it, but what hardship would it be to address what happened to their brother? Especially considering it’s technically their “fault” (though not really) that he was involved in this situation in the first place.
Second, what...
