Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is beaten quite badly in a boxing match, he has some bloody wounds. He dies from all those wounds. It is VERY sad.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In the film's climax, Champ wins a fight but also dies from being brutally beaten. His son cries over his body and refuses to accept that Champ is dead. The boy repeatedly says things like, "Wake up!" "He's not dead!" or "I want Champ!" sobbingly. Other people in the room cry as well. With all that in mind, it's hard to watch without getting upset. As a matter of fact, the scene has been studied by Smithsonian scientists and tested among certain people and considered the saddest scene of all time.
