In 1970s, especially towards the latter part, AB mostly featured in big films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.etc However he did too films for Hrishikesh Mukherjee,Basu Chaterjee. MANZIL released in 1979 however it's making started perhaps in 1973-1974, The film has avery identifiable plot,regarding AB who wants to make it big in his career and fakes to his girlfriend about his riches, the scenes between him and his friend Prakash are superb, also the romance is treated well. The film runs only for around 2 hours and hardly of any commercial ingredient seems unnecessary added. The film does get slow yet it's handled well and doesn't bore you
Direction is good Music by RD Burman was awesome,Rimjhim Gire Sawan both versions became a huge hit, sung by Kishore and Lata respectively. Tum Ho Meri is also awesome, other songs are superb
Amitabh Bachchan's looks keeping shifting between 1973-1974 to 1978 because of the delay but his performance is superb, he is very believable in the role Mousami Chaterjee with whom he pairs after BENAAM is good too in her role Rakesh Pandey as Prakash is apt, Satyen Kapoo is awesome Lalita Pawar is as usual,Ak Hangal is superb too
