When escaping the Oil Directorate, Egon tells Benny and Kjell that they only need to change their appearance. Kjell is seen as Egon and Egon is seen as Benny. Originally, director Knut Bohwim wanted Carsten Byhring to play Egon and Arve Opsahl to play Benny. This is a clever nod to the original line-up.
The old entrance Egon, Benny, and Kjell use to get access to the Oil Directorate does not exist in real life. It was a fake facade.
After gaining access to the tunnel underneath the Oil Directorate, Egon hushes Benny as he starts to sing 'Heigh-Ho' from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). When the movie was dubbed to Norwegian in 1983, Sverre Holm and Arve Opsahl did the voices for two of the dwarfs.
As Valborg wants Kjell to go on a diet that doesn't allow him beer or unhealthy food, a scene filmed during the airport coup that showed Kjell with a bottle of beer was deleted from the final version, and only a still-frame exists. The scene is included in the original Danish version, and the Swedish version, Jönssonligan får guldfeber (1984).
