THE SCANDALOUS WARLORD is a quite odd sex comedy from the Shaw Brothers stable. The warlord character is only really there to hold together several sub-plots about cheating wives and lovers among the warlord's subordinates. After a careful historical opening and set-up, this becomes a rather laboured picture with lots and lots of female nudity and very little in the way of concrete plotting to sustain it. The likes of Ai Fei and Lily Li have insubstantial minor roles and the humour is broadly dated.
