Cars featured in this movie included a 57 Chevy Coupe, a Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III XY, an HG Monaro, and a Dodge Challenger.
This movie is notable for showing Deborah Conway, then singer from the Australian band Do Re Mi, topless.
When Mike pulls up to the planned drag race after he claims the 57 Chevrolet a silver Ford Falcon XB panel van with the "Interceptor" front end sheetmetal (made famous in the first two Mad Max films) is seen. This was known as a "Monza" front end.
Mike's car seen in the early half of the film is a 1970 Ford Falcon GTHO with chrome plated GT rally wheels (commonly seen on 1960s-era Ford Mustangs and Torinos in the USA) - the car used in the film is part of the Falcon XY model line. 1966-72 Falcons produced by Ford Australia were modeled after the 1966 model sold in the USA but sold as a 4-door sedan, coupe utility, panel van, or station wagon - the XW and XY series were unique to Australia where the sedan had a buttressed C-pillar, wraparound taillight lenses (as opposed to the USA model where it came with square taillight lenses) and the front grille was unique to Ford Australia (the turn signal lenses were located on the front edge of the fenders instead of the bumper) until production ended in March 1972. Although Falcon production ended in the USA in 1969 (which does not include the 1970 1/2 USA model which was based on the mid-sized Fairlane/Torino), Falcons from the XA model onwards were Australian-designed and sold in the Australasia region, Southeast Asia, and South Africa. A few were exported to the UK and Caribbean but not the USA or Canada since they did not meet the DOT safety regulations of the era (locking steering columns were mandated in the USA since the 1970 model year).
Both the lead actors in this movie have fronted Australian rock bands. Deborah Conway is famous for being the lead singer of Do Re Mi whilst Terry Serio was in the band The Elks.
