Sex & Nudity

  • No sex scenes but there is implied sex and brief nudity
  • A woman's bare buttocks is briefly seen as a man lifts up her dress.
  • A man talks about buying "broads" in Boston and about how he wants his neighbour to go with him.
  • There is a scene where a woman is getting out of bed with a man still in the bed and it is implied they had sex. No nudity shown.
  • No nudity, but a woman is having an affair with a man with she attempts to break off. In one scene he tries to have sex with her against her will, but it's interrupted.

Violence & Gore

  • A bat bites a dog on the nose; the dog is heard yelping in pain and its nose is later seen with a pink welt on it from the bite.
  • A rabbit is chased and nearly killed by a dog, but it escapes.
  • A man tears up pillows and other various fixtures of another person's house with a knife; the investigating police later discuss the possibility that the man kidnapped a woman and her son.
  • A woman is almost raped (brief and mild) (see "Sex & Nudity").
  • It is implied that a man hits his wife and son. The wife later takes her son on a "vacation" to visit her sister after winning the lottery (they left the man).
  • A dog is seen deteriorating from rabies: its eyes are seen dripping with yellow pus, its fur gets matted with mud and blood, and flies are seen buzzing around the dog.
  • A man threatens to "sic his dog" on another man (jokingly). The other man says that the dog couldn't catch him "even if he was coming at it with a straight razor in each hand".
  • A child has a bruise on his head and states that he got hit by a swing on the playground.
  • A rabid dog attacks and kills various people in different ways, including a man having his throat bit, a woman and her son being cornered in a vehicle by the dog, a woman having her legs and stomach injured by the dog, a man falling from a barn rafter and being killed by the dog, and a man screaming and hiding behind a table as the dog kills him (offscreen).
  • A man pushes a woman when upset that she won't have sex with him again.

Profanity

  • Two uses of "I don't give a shit".
  • 3 uses of "heiney" (in a rhyme sung between two main characters).
  • 1 use of "bitch/son-of-a-bitch".
  • A few uses of 'Damn'.
  • two uses of the word "fuck". Milder swears are also used throughout.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Men are shown drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The scenes with Cujo attacking the car are very intense.
  • This film warns the dog owners to vaccinate their dogs in order to prevent rabies

Violence & Gore

  • Gary Pervier has his throat ripped out by Cujo. It is fast and the camera is shaky so we don't see it happen. We do see the bloodied body of him later for a split second.
  • A woman has a shotgun and kills a dog with it (offscreen).
  • It is discussed via two characters and also on a news report that an artificial red-coloured breakfast cereal has made the consumers eating it appear to be exhibiting internal hemorrhaging. It turns out that what was thought to be blood was really just red food dye. A man angrily discusses customers "peeing and pooping red dye".
  • Three people are killed by a rabid dog; some blood is shown.
  • A woman beats a dog with a baseball bat and impales it with the broken end of the bat; the dog later breaks through a glass window and the woman shoots it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A boy almost dies of a heat stroke and dehydration.
  • A woman beats a dog, then later shoots it.
