a funny confrontation of city life and farmers life
andre-7112 May 2000
I liked this movie, because I can imagine how cool people from Hamburg behave when they meet people from the not-so-cool countryside. Also, the situation created in the film is quite funny, though, I doubt that it is realistic. Since I was laughing most of the time, I enjoyed the film, but then the end of it seemed a little clumsy.

Known because of its director Warning: Spoilers
This is a very slow short movie that runs for almost 45 minutes and was made 30 years ago, actually 4 years before the Fall of the Berlin Wall. It is written by, directed by and starring Detlev Buck (in his early 20s), one of Germany's most famous filmmakers to this day. He plays a farm worker who enjoys a night in the city and meets a woman, who initially seems annoyed, but quickly warms up to his Northern German charm. Buck of course comes from this area too. Sadly, the accents of the other people in this film are so thick that you need subtitles to 100% understand them even if you are a German native speaker. It's not really a drama movie, but not a comedy either. Maybe romance is what fits these 43 minutes best. It's like a lighter Fassbinder film and I personally enjoyed the second half more than the first. Here and there it's artistic and you could see Buck's talent shine through in his very first film as writer and director and second as actor. However, he still had a long way to go to where he is today.
