The film finally received limited release in New Zealand about three years after it was made.
The film was re-titled ''Murder on the Rocks'' for its home video release on VHS in Australia.
Though the filmed adaptation of a Ronald Hugh Morrieson novel, 'Pallet on the Floor' (aka 'Murder on the Rocks') (1984), was made the year before the R.H. Morrieson film adaptation 'Came a Hot Friday' (1985), and had played at the Cannes Film Market in 1984, it did not get a theatrical release until about three years later, which was about a couple of years after 'Came a Hot Friday' (1985), and it was a limited release around 1986.
