Kevin Costner’s future with Yellowstone has seemingly been confirmed.
Fans of the Western drama were recently shocked by the claims that Costner would step away from his role as the head of the Dutton family.
The reports stated that Costner’s alleged decision had prompted creator, Sicario and Hell or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan, to bring the show to an end. A spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey is said to be in the works.
It had previously been claimed that Sheridan locked heads with Costner, who won a Golden Globe for his role in January, over the actor’s shooting schedules for another project, which left the Yellowstone crew with minimal time to complete filming.
The actor’s attorney refuted this claim, stating: “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of season five of Yellowstone is an absolute lie.”

IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to “Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles,” a documentary about one Isreali chef’s attempts to recreate some of the French Monarchy’s most delicious desserts.
The film is the latest work from Laura Gabbert, who previously teamed with IFC Films on “City of Gold,” a look at the late food critic Jonathan Gold and his connection to the culinary scene of Los Angeles. “Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles” will be released in September 2020.
The film follows Yotam Ottolenghi, the London-based Isreali chef and celebrated author of the cookbooks “Jerusalem” and “Plenty,” as he is enlisted by New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to organize a food gala inspired by the museum’s exhibit “Visitors to Versailles.” In preparation for the event, Ottolenghi travels to the Palace of Versailles to conduct his research. 21 November 1985: It all began with a film that never was, but paid enough to allow him to get more and more involved in the theatre
As one of Britain’s most versatile, as well as most celebrated actors, Ian McKellen has kept an unexpectedly low profile in the cinema. Recently, however, matters have changed.
Priest of Love, in which he plays Dh Lawrence, is at present being revived to mark the author’s centenary; this week sees the opening of the movie version of Plenty, with McKellen in a crucial cameo role; and the London Film Festival has already screened Zina; a British independent movie with McKellen as the psychiatrist who ministered to Trotsky’s daughter.

The Season 3 premiere of “Tracey Ullman’s Show” at Tribeca TV turned into a major lovefest between two legends on Friday evening in New York. Introduced by Tribeca founder Jane Rosenthal as “Tracey Ullman’s very best dearest friend,” Meryl Streep joined Ullman for a post-screening Q&A that covered not just the breadth of Ullman’s career, but the deep bond between the two actors.
“I met you when I was 32,” Streep said, “and I said to my husband, ‘I think I’ve made a new friend.’ It’s hard to make a new friend when you’re old and famous.”
The pair met when Ullman, then 21, and Streep were cast in the 1985 film “Plenty.” They have remained close since — as evidenced by a natural banter that sometimes slipped into the pair singing together on stage. “We had babies at the same time, shared life experiences,” Ullman said. “People ask me,...

Charles Dance and Meryl Streep in "Plenty"
#11 — Susan Traherne, resistance fighter turned diplomat’s wife with a gnawing sense of unease about the life she must lead.
Matthew: “I just wish she were more ordinary,” a persnickety commercial director grumbles about an offscreen model hired to play the mother in a promo for dog food. “Will the audience identify?” he frets. We’re in England in the postwar 1940s and Susan Traherne, a former agent in the French resistance, is rolling her eyes through a mind-numbing advertising job that she will promptly vacate. The scene is quick but Susan walks out just in time for the director’s comments to resonate as a sly statement on the woman herself, the reliably erratic anti-heroine played by Meryl Streep in Fred Schepisi’s tepid cinematic adaptation of David Hare’s Plenty.

It turned out to be a downright risible night at the Tony Awards. On June 5, 1983, “Torch Song Trilogy” beat out “Plenty” and “‘night, Mother” for best play of that Broadway season. Granted, the David Hare and Marsha Norman plays have not been blessed with stellar revivals to enhance their reputations since then, but at least no one ever felt the need to cut huge chunks from either work or change the title. A revival of Harvey Fierstein’s “Torch Song” opened Thursday at Off Broadway’s Second Stage; it’s 45 minutes shorter than the original, and is performed with only.

Holy plastic building blocks, Batman! Almost everything really was awesome about The Lego Batman Movie. After years of dark nights and grim glares at other superheroes, the newest adventure of the Caped Crusader, as voiced by Will Arnett’s perfectly overdone gravel, was a breath of fresh air. Not afraid to let Batman’s sidekicks have fun - even if our cantankerous main guy still prefers to wear only black and sing about “darkness” - The Lego Batman Movie is poised to entertain Bat-fans of all Bat-ages.
Still one of its best gags is its shameless (and relentless) use of references, cutaways, and in-jokes to overstuff its narrative with more meta-humor than the most unwieldy episode of Community. As a consequence, it’s easy to...

The first two issues of this title really took me by surprise as I was kind of expecting not to like it. T&A has always sold to a certain demographic, and I thought this was a case of making an easy buck or two. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Yes, the book has very adult themes, nudity and sex, but it is a realistic sex industry we see here. Seedy, dangerous, but made up in part by ordinary people like you and I. Christa Faust, co-writer with Gary Phillips, was around in that 80′s New York sex industry, so you know it’s as authentic as it comes.

Plenty of shows these days embrace their inner batshit insanity. Challenging norms via wild narratives or atypical execution is so deep within their nature that the show thrives on such inherent madness. Here at IndieWire, we refer to such efforts as “bonkers” TV, and Hulu’s latest original series, “Shut Eye,” could certainly be a candidate if it ever fully leans into its freshly bizarre elements.
After all, this is a show that constructs a climactic scene in which a woman walks between two rows of gypsies in a candlelit East L.A. mansion as the offended parties spit on her. And that’s just the start of her punishment for breaking the gypsy code. What comes next is enough to make even hardened TV viewers raise an eyebrow.

This is very much Faust’s baby, set as it is in mid-1980′s Times Square, New York, the exact time and place Faust was manning those same peep booths. The characters are also based on real people she knew and interacted with, so Peepland sure won’t lack for authenticity. David Hare’s “Plenty” returned Sunday to the Public Theater, the scene of its American debut in 1982. Back then, both the play and its leading actress, Kate Nelligan, took on the instant status of greatness, an impression reinforced the following year when the staging, directed by David Hare, transferred to Broadway. There was something revolutionary about the play and its character, Susan Traherne. Hare played with time like few writers before him, the scenes not performed in chronological order. Equally challenging, theatergoers who’d been mesmerized by plays about women named Martha and Hedda were more than shocked by Susan’s disintegration.

Susan Traherne, the unstable protagonist of David Hare's Plenty, straining against a numbing life of polite prosperity in post-World War II Britain, is often compared to the self-destructive heroine of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. Both women are tricky characters, selfish neurotics requiring an audience to fill in psychological blanks they refuse to articulate, even as corrosive suffocation, intransigence and rage push them over the edge. Neither director David Leveaux nor Rachel Weisz in the lead role satisfyingly meets the challenges of this structurally complex drama in the Public Theater's torpid revival. The jagged shards of a broken life that

Ava DuVernay, “Queen Sugar”
The acclaimed “Selma” and “Middle of Nowhere” director is a storyteller first, and what better medium to delve deep into a story than television? In her first foray on the small screen, DuVernay allied herself with Oprah’s Own network for “Queen Sugar,” in which she examines the lives of the Bordelon siblings in Louisiana after the passing of their father who leaves them a sugarcane farm.
DuVernay has always been a champion of being the change she wants to see, and her work on “Queen Sugar” is no different. Beginning with adapting a novel from a woman of color, about black siblings, DuVernay also made a point to hire an all-female roster of directors for every episode. She even directed two herself, and the pilot shows that the same appreciation for a gorgeous, almost dreamy palette that “Selma” had, despite some rough subject matter. While...

Disney fans were in for a massive smile-inducing and tear-jerking event at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Friday when a 71-piece orchestra and talented vocal line-up performed the music of The Little Mermaid live to picture at a concert screening. Among the cast taking on the roles in the beloved 1989 animated film were Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Rebel Wilson as Ursula, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Darren Criss as Prince Eric, and John Stamos as Chef Louis. In a post-Merida, post-Elsa world, Ariel’s tale of longing to leave her father’s home and adventure into another world still resonates with audiences. The ever-catchiness of the music does too. That was evident as the power of nostalgia and the promise of a solid cast packed the Hollywood Bowl at Friday night’s show. The 17,000-seat venue had sold out within three hours, and two more shows were added (for Saturday and Monday) to meet demand.
