“We’re explorers, not fake ghost hunters” Marcus tells Jessie at the beginning of Hell’s Half Acre. And he means it, he’s not interested in looking for ghosts in an allegedly haunted prison. Even if some ghost hunting might make his floundering urban exploration YouTube channel the money needed to help save his mother’s house, where he still lives, from foreclosure.
He is willing to do one of his usual videos in the prison, however. So he, Jesse, Dan, Jose (Omar Vega Jr.; Chicago P.D.), and the new addition to the team Cassie make plans to explore Rockland Heights Prison. But he’s going to have to deal with the supernatural whether he likes it or not.

Spanish hip hop artist Mala Rodríguez, the first female artist to win both Best Urban Album and Best Urban Song at the Latin Grammys, will take a role in “Harem, Land of Goddesses”, a sci-fi drama series set in the land of Ellah, where women reign over men.
Developed at the 8th TV Series Creation Lab, an initiative of Spain’s Sgae Foundation, “Harem, Land of Goddesses” will be introduced to potential producers today Sept. 14 at Pamplona’s Conecta Fiction, Europe’s biggest TV co-production forum with Latin America.
Rodríguez – whose songs have always proclaimed the need for women to stand on their own two feet – fits like a glove in this fantasy parable. In “Harem,” a woman is born for every thousand men, the latter divided into two categories: Valids, or harem studs, and Rejects, who are banned from approaching the palace. Women enjoy the status of goddesses until one,...

Israeli television network Reshet has announced that it is canceling its planned merger with fellow network Channel Ten, saying that foot-dragging by the country’s broadcasting authority, whose final approval is required, had put it in an untenable position.
“The broadcast authority’s avoidance of a decision on the merger request has led to its cancellation,” Reshet said in a surprise statement Monday. “Despite the deal signed between Reshet and Channel Ten, and despite the understanding that a merger between the two channels is the best solution for the Israeli television market, the Reshet shareholders were forced to announce today the cancellation of the merger.”
Reshet said that its board would meet in the coming days to formally cancel the merger and that it would revert to its full programming schedule, undoing the preliminary work it had undertaken to integrate Channel Ten. The network said it could not continue indefinitely...

The Bridge producer Lars Blomgren is looking to crack remakes of the hit Scandi crime drama in China and India as he moves into a new role at Endemol Shine Group designed to bolster its foreign-language drama slate.
In a wide-ranging interview with Deadline, Blomgren, who previously headed Esg-owned Swedish producer Filmlance, lifted the lid of the superindie’s plans to expand on its current 40 non-English scripted series, explained how the success of Netflix’s Dark has lead to new challenges and discussed his willingness to bring UK and U.S. producers such as Kudos and Fifty Fathoms together with producers around the world to create new hits.
Blomgren becomes Head of Scripted, Europe, Middle East and Africa from September 1. While he admitted that the door was starting to close on Bron (The Bridge), which has had five international remakes, he said that the group was still chasing local...

Israel’s Antitrust Authority has approved a merger of TV broadcasters Reshet and Channel Ten.
The two companies announced their intention to join forces back in June, but had to await the ruling of the government authority, which granted the request Wednesday on one condition. Before the deal can be completed, Reshet must sell its stake in “The News Company,” formerly known as Channel 2 News.
Until last November, Reshet and Keshet shared airing rights on Israel’s Channel 2, the oldest and largest commercial broadcast station in the country. But in the wake of legislation aimed at boosting competition in the TV market, the broadcasters were forced to split into two separate channels last year.
Reshet has suffered in ratings and revenue since the split. Channel Ten, Israel’s only other commercial network, has also been struggling, and the two viewed a merger as the only way to stay afloat.

Lilles, France — In a keynote conversation given by Endemol Shine president Sohpie Turner Laing at Lille’s Series Mania, it was announced that Israeli broadcaster Reshet has commissioned a second season of the hit series “Harem,” to broadcast on Reshet 13.
“Harem” featured at this year’s festival as part of the International Panorama, where Laing announced the renewal. She then explained where the series fits in the company’s big picture outlook.
“We are about supporting our creative visionaries [allowing them] to do the best work they can do around the world. The benefit of being such a strong group is that we are able to make things happen really quickly.”
She went on: “It’s working with the local heads in every country to work out what’s in their development slate, and what stories are going to resonate with audience. Our group is about how we travel shows from one country to another.
