- During one of the main character's dream/fantasy sequences, an old woman is clearly shown hand-sewing a few stitches directly through her own finger. It's disturbing.

- Mr Tillney & Katherine kiss at the very end of the movie. A tear falls to Katherine's cheek as a result. Viewers may assume it to be yet another of Katherine's fantasy sequences, but her younger brother arriving and seeing it happening implies that the kiss is real and not a figment of her imagination.
