Sex & Nudity

  • A man and woman are seen having sex in the opening of 'Death on the Nile' (2004)
  • A few episodes deal with 'adult' topics such as characters having an affair and their spouse killing them, or being accused of such.
  • A brief sex scene in 'The Hollow' (2004)
  • An artist's model is shown fully nude in 'Four and Twenty Blackbirds' (1989)

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • The profanity is milder in the earlier years (seasons 1-8; 1989 - 2002). The profanity in the latter years (seasons 9-13; 2003 - 13) can be quite harsh.
  • "Shit" is used in 'Taken at the flood' (2006).
  • 'Lord' 'God' "For God's sake" and 'Bloody' aren't used much but they are the most frequently used words overall.
  • 'Goddamn' and 'Bastard' are used rarely.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Poirot occasionally smokes cigarettes, also some people smoke casually pipes and cigars. There is casual drinking , and some people get drunk occasionally.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The later episodes tend to be darker and/or more violent.
  • "The Tragedy at Marsdon Manor" "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb" and "Dead man's mirror" can be seen as three of the spookier 1990's episodes.

  • A man is stabbed to death in an extremely violent manner by 12 other people. This is later shown on screen. Scene may upset viewers.

Profanity

  • A man uses 'pansy' to describe a homosexual man in an episode.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man is seen, in the season 13 finale, having multiple near heart attacks. Later on, he ensures that his heart medication is out of his reach, as he is physically impaired, as to ensure death by heart failure.
  • A woman is seen impaled on a vaulting pole.
