In the final play of the Sugar Bowl, when Lawrence laterals the ball to Gavin, it is actually an illegal forward pass. Lawrence throws the ball at his own 48 yard line and Gavin catches it right at the 50 yard line. The touchdown that he scores would have been called back due to the penalty.
During Gavin Gray's first NFL game in 1957, the uniforms depicted for the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers are not historically accurate. The Redskins did not employ the burgundy helmet with the feather stripe along the back until the 1958 season, and the Steelers didn't adopt the Steelmark helmet logo until 1962 and they didn't use black helmets until 1963. In 1957 the Redskins used solid gold helmets and the Steelers used yellow helmets with a single black stripe along the center and black numerals on either side.
