It's not fair! I mean, even when you're a kid, you have an idea of what sucks and what doesn't. Like when I watched "Hey Dude" as a kid, there was other new stuff on Nick, like Fifteen, which I thought was pure crap compared to this (maybe Fifteen came even later.) Who can forget Ted and Brad handcuffed? "Arm spasm!/leg cramp!" Or the episode where the lady left her baby and they all had to take care of it, and , of course, when (gasp!) Ted flunked English Lit. and had to take summer school....which of course..entails the first and only kiss btw Brad & Ted.
Okay, I sound like a pure teeny-bopper; but I practically was about this show when it first came out! I made sure I didn't miss ANY episode. Sure, the older characters like Mr.Ernst (whose hat always looked greasy) and Lucy (who seemed really bitter) were annoying at first, but then they really grew on you.
Anyone remember the episode where its boys vs.girls, and Buddy has to judge? Ted reads that the recipe calls for brown sugar, so he pours soda on the sugar granules!! Cheesy, but classic coming from David Lascher! Or what about when Brad & Kyle double w/ Melody & Ted for a game of min. golf, and, of course, Brad & Ted start arguing about everything he's done to her...I can even remember the words of these lines... "in fact, Ted, knowing you has been an unending chain of disasters" (Ted) "Name one!" (Brad)"Name one? I could name 50! But if it's one you want, how 'bout the time you handcuffed yourself to me?!" (Kyle)"What an idiot! He handcuffed himself to you!"........... and then (Melody) "guys, let's just go do something else!" (Kyle)"Yeah, if we hand these clubs back, I'm sure we could still get our money back." (Ted)"Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you!"............. or (Ted)"I'm tellin' ya', it's rock-n-roll all the way, baby. Bangin' drums.... (Brad)"How about music for an attention span of over 4 years old?"
Ok , I watched too much TV as a kid. But at least it wasn't All That or Rocko's Modern Life!
I LOVE THE CHEESY STUFF I GREW UP WITH !!!!!
Bye, -SEP
