The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" gang has been at fault for quite a few deaths over the years -- from a guy shooting himself in a Russian Roulette game arranged by Frank, to Mac and Dee letting a kid drown at a water park. If you count animals, Charlie's got the highest body count in the gang, as he's murdered not just the many men rats in Paddy's Pub, but the women and children rats too. Then again, the implied horrors that went on in Frank's old sweatshop might put Charlie's rat genocide to shame.
But for Glenn Howerton, who plays the psychopathic Dennis Reynolds, one of the deaths that haunts him was only kind of the gang's fault. In a 2017 interview he talked about how he regretted killing off Roxy (Alanna Ubach), a successful yet unstable sex worker whom Frank tries to marry in season 7. She unexpectedly...

"The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour" is likely not remembered by many people, except for Billy Crystal himself. The variety/talk show ran from January 30 through February 27 in 1982, lasting a grand total of five episodes. Crystal was already a successful comedian and beloved figure in the industry thanks to the popularity of his 1970s stand-up work and his role in the 1977 sitcom "Soap," so he had connections. He was able to secure guest appearances from many of his famous comedian friends, including Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Robin Williams, and John Candy for the debut episode. Subsequent guests included Morgan Fairchild, the Manhattan Transfer, Nell Carter, Shelley Duvall, Cindy Williams, Al Jarreau, and Smokey Robinson.
"The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour" fell right in between "Soap" and "Saturday Night Live" on Crystal's professional timeline, and it might be considered something of a dip in his career. The show was canceled after only two episodes aired,...

Action shonen anime dominates the medium, for better and worse. Every big franchise eventually gets an original movie — or a dozen. "One Piece" has 15, "Dragon Ball" 24, and "Naruto" has 11.
The problem is that these mostly tend to be non canonical movies without much consequence. They are cute, fun adventures, for sure. Still, they are more concerned with providing fan service than providing substance. The best ones are those that manage to make the most out of their non canonical status and present truly experimental movies, like the best of the "One Piece" films.
Now comes "Spy x Family: Code White," a movie based on one of the most popular manga, published in Shonen Jump magazine — which makes this technically a shonen anime movie, regardless of its actual genre. The premise is simple. Loid is a spy, Yor is an assassin, and together they fake a family for convenience (and for...

Swifties rejoiced as pop star Taylor Swift released her new album The Tortured Poets Department. The record is her follow-up to 2022’s Midnights and has reportedly already broken the record of the number of pre-saves before its release on Spotify. The singer-songwriter has co-produced and co-wrote all of the songs in the album.
The new album reportedly continues Swift’s pattern of talking about her ex-romantic interests through her songs. While she is in a relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce at the moment, the former boyfriend who has become the subject of the song The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived in the new album is reportedly Matty Healy, the frontman of the band The 1975.

The 1983 classic Risky Business is getting the Criterion Collection treatment with an upcoming 4K Uhd and Blu-ray release – and the list of special features reveals that this release will feature both the theatrical cut of the film as well as writer/director Paul Brickman’s director’s cut, which has the original, darker ending. That ending was available as a bonus feature on a previous Blu-ray release of Risky Business, but these Criterion discs will be the first to actually have a full, official “director’s cut” of the film on them.
Risky Business has the following description: A sly piece of pop subversion, this irresistible satire of Reagan-era materialism features Tom Cruise in his star-is-born breakthrough as a Chicago suburban prepster whose college-bound life spirals out of control when his parents go out of town for the week and an enterprising call girl (Rebecca De Mornay) invites him...

We have seen public figures pay their tributes to Toriyama, many fans have made illustrations to honor Toriyama’s legacy, and many of Toriyama’s colleagues have also paid tribute to the late mangaka. Among many of these newly created works, there is one that caught our attention,...

Lala Kent revealed the only way that she and her Vanderpump Rules co-star, Katie Maloney will ever reconcile. The two had a falling out while Season 10 was airing but were able to reconcile. Unfortunately, things never seemed to truly mend and now Kent is sharing how it can get back to center. Keep reading for more details.

While Season 10 was airing, Katie Maloney said the vibes between herself and Lala Kent were off. They were able to work it out, appearing close again during an appearance on Wwhl. It was clear that they had each other’s backs all last season and supported one another thoroughly. However, in Season 11, alliances shifted on Vanderpump Rules. We all know about Disneyland, the world’s most famous theme park, as well as both the Ghibli Park and the Ghibli Museum, two locations dedicated to one of Japan’s most prominent animation studios. There are other theme parks as well, but these two come to mind first. But, as things stand, another major franchise might be getting its own theme park, as it has been confirmed that a Dragon Ball theme park is going to be constructed as part of the Qiddiya Investment Company’s project near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A video previewing the design of the theme park has also been released.

Of all The Beatles, Ringo Starr wrote the fewest songs for the band. He was more interested in supporting his bandmates’ writing with his drumming. Still, Starr played an important role in the inception of a couple of classic Beatles songs. His “Ringoisms” inspired the titles of two songs.
Ringo Starr accidentally named 2 Beatles songs
Practically as soon as Starr joined The Beatles, his bandmates grew accustomed to his unique way of speaking. He often coined phrases that they’d never heard before.
“Ringo would always say grammatically incorrect phrases and we’d all laugh,” George Harrison said in The Beatles Anthology. “I remember when we were driving back to Liverpool from Luton up the M1 motorway in Ringo’s Zephyr, and the car’s bonnet hadn’t been latched properly. The wind got under it and blew it up in front of the windscreen. We were all shouting, ‘Aaaargh!

With The Beatles, John Lennon achieved such a high level of fame that he could set trends. The Beatles haircut became so popular that people bought wigs of it. Steven Spielberg kissed his wife and embraced his mother before his left hand floated to his temple in disbelief. Then he grew visibly emotional as he made his way to the stage of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The 46-year-old Spielberg had just won his first Oscar — as best director for “Schindler’s List,” an unflinching look at the Holocaust and its horrors. “This is a big surprise,” presenter Clint Eastwood said somewhat sarcastically.
As Eastwood’s joke suggests, Spielberg’s victory at the 1994 Academy Awards was preordained — an unavoidable coronation after he had dominated popular culture so completely over the past year. Not only had he subverted his image as a boy genius, spinning escapist fantasies out of celluloid, by tackling a project as grown up as “Schindler’s List,” but he had also reestablished himself as the most successful director in Hollywood with another 1993 release, “Jurassic Park.” The adventure film, essentially “Jaws” with dinosaurs,...

John Lennon and Paul McCartney worked closely together on “A Day in the Life.” They each wrote portions of the song and married the parts together to create the finished product. During The Beatles’ 1964 trip to America, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr went to a comedy show. Don Rickles was doing standup in Miami and the band stopped in to see him. They weren’t familiar with his comedy but quickly discovered that he liked poking fun at his audience. Harrison said that if they had been in their own element, they could have hit back at Rickles.
George Harrison said The Beatles could have ripped Don Rickles to shreds
The Beatles were some of the most famous people in the world in 1964, so, naturally, Rickles poked fun at them during his show.
“He went on, ‘It’s great. They just lie up there on the ninth floor, between satin sheets and every time they hear the girls screaming they “Oooohh”‘ McCartney recalled in The Beatles Anthology. “Very funny, we thought. We were not amused, as I recall.

If you felt like the Horton house fire was a slap in the face to the show's legacy, hang on!
I didn't like the idea of the iconic house burning down, but Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 2-19-24 suggest some memorable scenes that might make up for it.
Doug and Julie survey the damage and reminisce about Tom and Alice. There is also another special surprise in store.
The Doug/Julie scenes are heartbreaking because of Bill Hayes' real-life passing. From the scene in the spoiler video, it seems that Days of Our Lives wanted to make Doug and Julie the next generation's Tom and Alice.
Bill Hayes even sings the legendary couple's signature song, Always.
If Hayes hadn't passed away, I might feel differently about these scenes, but his rendition of Always brings tears to my eyes -- and that's just a clip!

Here’s Why We Think Taylor Swift’s Upcoming Album Is About Joe Alwyn! (Picture Credit: Instagram)
Taylor Swift made the 2024 Grammy Awards night more memorable by announcing her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. Meanwhile, her fans speculate it might be about her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. That might be possible as the actor once co-wrote two songs for a pop star, and if we think creatively, poets, thinkers, songwriters, or authors are all creators.
Taylor and Alwyn were together for six years before breaking up last year. Taylor soon found love in Travis Kelce, and the lovebirds are going strong now. Tay is known for writing songs about her former lovers. For example, Dead John was about John Mayer, Style for Harry Styles, Forever and Always for Joe Jonas, Midnight Rain for Tom Hiddleston, and more. However, Her song Lover is also believed to have been written for Joe,...

Production designer Ruth De Jong and costume designer Ellen Mirojnick have worked on projects helmed by incredible filmmakers. De Jong earned an Emmy nomination for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return and worked as the production designer on Jordan Peele’s Us and Nope. Mirojnick, meanwhile, earned an Emmy for Behind the Candelabra — one of her six collaborations with Steven Soderbergh — and designed costumes for Steven Spielberg (Always), Richard Attenborough (Chaplin), Kathryn Bigelow (Strange Days), Oliver Stone (Wall Street) and Paul Verhoeven (Basic Instinct, Showgirls and Starship Troopers).
So the pair know a thing or two about what makes a great director. But it’s Oppenheimer writer-director Christopher Nolan whom De Jong and Mirojnick call the ultimate filmmaker.
“There is no other director like him, and I’ve worked with some of the best,” says Mirojnick. “His method of collaboration is very generous, and he shares a massive amount by comparison to anyone else.

The side characters on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" can sometimes be just as funny or even funnier than the gang themselves, and one of the most beloved of them all is The Waitress, played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis. The Waitress has been a part of the series since the beginning, appearing in the very first episode, "The Gang Gets Racist," but her real name has never been revealed. There aren't many other characters on the series that don't have revealed names, so what gives? Why have they kept the identity of The Waitress a secret for all of these years?
On an episode of "The Always Sunny Podcast," where Ellis joined writers and stars Charlie Day (who is also married to Ellis), Rob McElhenney, and Howerton (along with writer/producer Megan Ganz) to discuss all things The Waitress, the character's real name came up in conversation. It turns out...

Things got a little hot on “The Masked Singer” for R&b superstar Ginuwine Wednesday night. “I don’t want to be no diva,” he recalls about complaints his Husky costume was overheating. The “Pony” singer was eliminated on episode 9 following an “I Wanna Rock” night performance of “Always” by Jon Bon Jovi. “For what it was all worth, it was something that I overcame. You can’t maneuver in that suit and it’s really heavy. I’m used to moving, so when I couldn’t move as much as I wanted to it got a little difficult.” Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.
Despite the heat, Ginuwine loved Husky and his experience on the Fox reality TV competition. “I thought they did their due diligence because that’s pretty much something that represents me,” he says of his costume. “I’m a go-getter.

All of a sudden, Matt Hooper’s iconic quote – “I think that I am familiar with the fact that you are going to ignore this particular problem until it swims up and bites you on the ass!” – is more relevant for its speaker, as Richard Dreyfuss is now taking umbrage with a play about the making of Jaws. Co-written by and starring Ian Shaw, son of the late Robert Shaw – who died just three years after Jaws scared moviegoers in theaters (and out of the ocean) – The Shark Is Broken is the latest target of Dreyfuss, who is none too pleased about his depiction and that of the supposedly makeshift feud between himself and Shaw.
Although it debuted in 2019 and Richard Dreyfuss even attended a performance, he is not too happy that Ian Shaw didn’t consult him on the making of Jaws; instead, Shaw used his father’s diary as a reference.

Growing up, many of us were captivated by the adventures of Goku and his friends in the world of Dragon Ball. From the fierce battles to the heartwarming friendships, it shaped our childhoods in many ways. Now, with the announcement of ‘Dragon Ball: Daima’ at New York Comic-Con, it feels like a sweet reunion with an old friend.
The teaser trailer released by Toei Animation was a rush of nostalgia. Seeing Goku and his companions de-aged, taking us back to those earlier days of the series, was truly a treat. The snippet showed Goku and Vegeta sparring, reminding me of those afternoons when I’d rush home from school just to catch the latest episode. It wasn’t just Goku; the entire cast appeared younger, which means we’ll get to revisit the dynamics and relationships of our favorite characters in a fresh yet familiar setting.

In honor of the Breaking Bad finale’s 10th anniversary (on Sept. 29), TVLine is celebrating the series’ real hero: Skyler White.
Anna Gunn’s Skyler received plenty of criticism during the AMC drama’s five-season run. Viewers on Reddit have called her “cold, manipulative, self-serving controlling and passive aggressive,” an “irritating person” and “annoying.” And according to her son Flynn (aka Walt Jr.), Skyler was “such a b–tch!” But did she deserve such harsh disapproval?

It's been 22 years since "Band of Brothers" captivated television audiences with its gripping 10-episode tale of a United States paratrooper company's daring, civilization-saving exploits in the European Theater of World War II. And according to its placement on Netflix's top charts, it is as relevant and watchable as ever.

Sex Education, Spy Kids: Armageddon and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar are among the high-profile new projects debuting on Netflix in September.
Sex Education‘s fourth and final season will start streaming on Sept. 21, with action shifting from the closed Moordale Secondary to the progressive Cavendish College and Emma Mackey’s Maeve in America. Creator Laurie Nunn said that as the writers were working on season four “it became clear that this was the right time to graduate.” The final season sees the return of stars Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee Lou Wood, Dua Saleh, Mimi Keene, Kedar Williams-Stirling and Chinenye Ezeudu. Gillian Anderson will also return as Otis’ (Butterfield) sex therapist mom. Nickelback is on hand for the 2023 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, where the Canadian rockers are the focus as the new documentary “Hate to Love: Nickelback” makes its TIFF debut.
Not only does the documentary recount the band’s rise to the top of the rock genre, “Hate to Love” also takes an unsparing look at the backlash that’s dogged the band for years.
“I’m over it… And now from this day forward, if anybody asks that question in the press, it’s like that’s the end of the interview.”
Interviewed by People during TIFF, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger says the documentary will be the last word on the subject, and he has no plans to ever address it again.

In 1981, Steven Spielberg admitted that filmmaking was a learning experience ... in what you hate. Spielberg's first feature was "Duel," a horror movie based on a short story by Richard Matheson, and it was made on a budget of only $450,000, cheap even for 1971. He followed that with "The Sugarland Express" in 1973, a crime thriller that he made for only $3 million. Next came 1975's "Jaws," one of the biggest movies of all time, produced with a budget of $9 million. One can already see the pattern at work. Spielberg started small, and his productions only got bigger and bigger over the years. It wouldn't be until "The Color Purple" in 1985 that Spielberg would break out of his reputation as a maker of mere blockbuster entertainments.
Spielberg never set out to achieve that kind of growth. Indeed, hearing him talk about it, Spielberg always wanted to make multiple small, intimate movies in between the gigantic genre pictures.

Currently among Gold Derby’s top 10 films likely to receive Best Picture bids at this year’s Oscars are “The Color Purple” and “Maestro.” What both movies have in common is that they happen to be produced by Steven Spielberg. If they both get in as expected, this would be the first time Spielberg personally received Oscar nominations for two different movies in the same year.
“The Color Purple” follows Celie Harris Johnson (Fantasia Barrino), an African-American woman living in the South during the early 1900s. Spielberg was previously nominated for producing the 1985 film adaptation of Alice Walker‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, which he also directed. This new movie, which is adapted from the 2005 Tony-winning stage musical iteration, is currently in fifth place for Best Picture with 11/1 odds.

Lupita Nyong’o is remembering her Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman on his death anniversary.
In a touching tribute, Nyong’o shared a black and white photo of Boeman as they arrived in South Korea in 2018.
“Three years ago today, I experienced a singular pain at the news of @chadwickboseman’s death. The confusion was so profound that it took months to trust the feeling of joy again,” she wrote.
She continued, “This is a photo I took on film at the airport as we arrived in South Korea in 2018. We had just learned to do the baby heart with our fingers. Here Chadwick was adding his suave flare. We spent a glorious 72 hours there, and the memory fills me with so much joy.”

Chrystia Cabral’s Spellling & the Mystery School is a collection of songs from throughout her career as Spellling, but with a twist, as each track has undergone a complete reimagination. The already eerie “Under the Sun,” from 2019’s Mazy Fly, has been masterfully reworked into an even eerier sci-fi ballad with an ominous string arrangement and an interlude punctuated by synth flashes, while “Phantom Farewell,” from 2017’s Pantheon of Me, beefs up some of the song’s original sonic distortions for a bigger, grander sound.
The new electronic elements may give the album’s songs a supernatural quality, but there’s heart and humanity in the lush orchestral arrangements, velvety drum patterns, and Cabral’s captivating, soulful voice. The minimalistic percussion and piano on tracks like “Hard to Please (Reprise)” provide Cabral the space to showcase her impressive vocal prowess, accompanied by background vocalists Toya Willock and Dharma Moon-Hunter.

Spellling, the art-pop project of Bay Area musician Chrystia Cabral, has a new album on the way called Spellling & The Mystery School that’ll be out on August 25th via Sacred Bones. To celebrate the news, Cabral has shared the record’s first two singles, “Cherry” b/w “Under the Sun.”
The Mystery School takes a bit of a non-traditional approach. Rather than a string of brand-new songs, these tracks feature re-imaginations of songs already in Spellling’s discography. Now, recorded with her full touring band, these new versions take into consideration audience feedback, with Cabral now “understanding what excites them and/or what makes people wanna dance more.” The album features contributions from Del Sol Quartet, Divya Farias, Jaren Feeley, Patrick Shelley, and more, and pre-orders are ongoing.

Cr: Patrick McElhenney/FX. Philadelphia is an old city, having served as the first capital of the United States until Washington, DC was established in 1800. It’s a city that’s proud of its heritage, its culture, and, occasionally, even its sports teams. So, how does It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fit into the fabric of such an historic metropolis? Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Australian singer-songwriter Angie McMahon is back with her new song, “Saturn Returning.”
