- When Getafix becomes an amnesiac lunatic after being struck by Obelix's menhir, Asterix tries to cure him, all while his fellow villagers are being conned by a phony soothsayer Prolix.
- When the druid Panoramix is attacked by some roman soldiers, Obelix drives them away by throwing a menhir on them - which accidentally hits Panoramix. After this the druid has lost his memory and can not remember the formula of his magic potions, especially the one which gives superhuman strength.—Michael Zink
- 50 BC and the world belongs to the Romans. The Romans capture Druid Getafix (Danny Mann), as part of their plan to deprive a rebel village of Gauls from the magic potion that gives them super-human strength. Getafix was collecting herbs and spices for his secret vitamin potion when the Romans attack him. Getafix alone can brew the potion that provides superhuman strength. When the village attempts a rescue, Obelix (Rosey Grier) accidentally hits Getafix with a Menhir (The Romans run away seeing Asterix and Obelix attack, and hence Getafix was alone in the line of fire) in the resulting chaos, causing him to be struck with amnesia and insanity. That same night a storm hits the village, and the villagers think that the sky is falling.
As the village comes to grip with this, a travelling soothsayer named Prolix (Bill Martin) arrives and begins deceiving some of the credulous villagers into believing a number of prophecies he predicts, despite the fact that he is actually a fraud. Prolix says that the sky is not falling on their heads and that the village will see sunny days, making them complacent. Prolix also predicts fights among the villagers. when these things come true, the villagers are unwilling to let him go. Other villagers include Dogmatix (Roger Carel), Impedimenta/Bonnemine (Lucille Bliss), Cacofonix/Franksinatrix (Greg Burson), Geriatrix (Danny Mann), Mrs. Geriatrix (Mona Marshall), Mrs. Fulliautomatix (Paule Emanuele) & Unhygienix/Fishstix (Ed Gilbert)
Asterix and Obelix make sure that Prolix is evicted from the village, But the chief's wife Bonnemine follows him deep into the wood and brings him delicious foods to eat if he foretells her future. Prolix smiles on his luck and agrees to stay. TO keep Asterix and Obelix from going towards that section of the woods, Bonnemine invites them to lunch at her hut. Bonnemine convinces her husband to assign Asterix and Obelix to guard Getafix, and not leave the village, ever. Bonnemine tells her secret to Mrs. Geriatrix and soon the whole village knows. Prolix gets emboldened and starts asking for gold in exchange for reading people's futures.
Meanwhile the Romans don't know yet that Getafix has lost his memory and gone mad. For all they know, he might be safe in the village.
Knowing that Romans will quickly realize that the village is in trouble without the magic potion, Asterix (Henry Winkler) and Vitalstatistix (Greg Burson) desperately attempt to have Getafix brew some. His concoctions quickly prove problematic and alert a garrison of Romans (the cauldron explodes and launches into the air, landing right on top of a Roman patrol) into sending a spy into the village. Despite being camouflaged, he is captured and used as a guinea pig for some of Getafix's less dangerous creations (gets a dragon tail, starts acting like a drill, changes into a lion, becomes really tiny). However, one of these makes him lighter than air causing him to float away, where he reports their problem.
The Romans send a patrol to investigate, and come across the Soothsayer, whom they capture. Although Roman laws declare such individuals to be arrested, the garrison's centurion is convinced of Prolix's abilities (to convince the villagers of anything) and uses him to chase away the villagers.
Returning to the village, Prolix foretells doom if the village is not abandoned. Everyone leaves for a nearby island, except for Asterix, Obelix and Getafix. Shortly after the Romans move in (Bossa Nova sends a soldier to Rome with a message for Caesar that the whole of Gaul is now under Roman occupation), Getafix brews a very noxious potion whose vapors engulf the village, both restoring his memories and sanity in the process, and driving off the Romans on the belief that Prolix's prediction was true. Getafix quickly brews the magic potion and convinces the villagers to test the soothsayer's abilities (thereby exposing him as a fraud) by having them attack the Roman camp.
In the aftermath of the attack, Prolix is hit by a Menhir after his abilities are discovered to be a fake and loses his memories, while the centurion Bossa Nova (Ed Gilbert) is demoted for his failure, as the village returns to normal.
