Zack Snyder is currently one of the most prominent directors in Hollywood, garnering both praise and criticism. While he has demonstrated skills in directing a specific type of film, his work has also faced its share of criticism and it’s not hard to see why. He has worked with many actors during his run in the Dceu, and that especially includes Ray Fisher, who recently celebrated the anniversary of the legendary Snyder Cut edition of Justice League.
Zack Snyder has faced criticism, with some labeling him a ‘hack’ for his film portrayal and perceived fixation on unnecessary themes and biblical imagery. This was pretty much evident in the Dceu film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. That said, his version of Justice League released a few years ago proved to be a huge success.

Back in 2010 in Hong Kong, Wong Ching-po shot the cult “Revenge: A Love Story”, about a man that kills pregnant women, taking away their unborn babies. His later works, however, were mostly martial arts/action movies that definitely did not reach the standards of the aforementioned. That is until this year and “The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon” which seems to bring him back to the Cat III space that he thrived, this time, though, in a Taiwanese production.

While Bloodsport, the 1988 martial arts tournament movie, is widely considered by fans to be Jean-Claude Van Damme’s best film, it almost never saw the light of day. Indeed, according to Nick De Semlyen’s book, “Last Action Heroes” (buy it here), the film was deemed unreleasable by Cannon Pictures head Menachem Golan. The film sat on the shelf for fourteen months and was considered so bad that Golan intended to release the movie direct-to-video.
Things got so heated that Golan refused to go ahead with a proposed sequel to Lone Wolf McQuade, which would have featured Van Damme teaming up with Chuck Norris (who was an early mentor to Jcvd). He wanted Michael Dudikoff instead.
According to the book, Van Damme, who had returned to his old job as a limo driver when the movie wrapped, convinced the studio to allow him to re-edit the film with Towering Inferno editor Carl Press.

Ultron is one of the most nefarious and tricky foes the Avengers have had to deal with in the pages of Marvel Comics. However, the character was underutilized in his big-screen debut in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The film’s climax sees the villainous AI disintegrated, leaving little room for Ultron’s return in future MCU projects.

This is going to stun anyone who grew up on 21st century superhero cinema (which kicked off in 2000 with Bryan Singer's "X-Men" and only now seems to be on the wane), but what if I told you that in the 1970s, there were television series dedicated to the Hulk, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man, and they weren't the main small-screen pop cultural obsessions for sci-fi/fantasy fans? Not even close.
This is because every kid in America was crazy about "The Six Million Dollar Man."
Based on the novel "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin, "The Six Million Dollar Man" starred Lee Majors as astronaut Steve Austin, who's saved from certain death after the crash of an experimental aircraft when he is transformed into an experimental superhuman being via bionic implants. As the show's opening credits reminded us every week, these scientists made Majors "bigger, stronger, faster." He was as powerful as a bulldozer,...

Well, that remains unclear, but this time around the anthology series will follow detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) as the long winter darkness in Alaska. When eight people at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace, these detectives need to get on the case quickly.

I'm going to need you to remember back to the very early days of the MCU. Robert Downey Jr. was Tony Stark, played with all the snark and charisma you could ever want from a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist character, and Edward Norton was the tortured Bruce Banner, a role he wasn't destined to hold on to.
A "Captain America" movie was coming up and ... well, people had opinions. Some wanted a grounded Cap, some wanted a badass Cap, and some wanted something more in line with Rdj's Tony Stark. The thing is, we had never gotten a good Captain America on screen before. We'd gotten one terrible "Captain America" film in 1990 from schlockmeister Albert Pyun ("Cyborg" and "The Sword and the Sorcerer"), and the character had pretty much fallen out of favor to all but the most die-hard Marvel comics fans.
He was too Goodie Two Shoes, at least that was the perception,...

The sci-fi action TV series The Six Million Dollar Man was so incredibly popular when it was running on ABC back in the 1970s, it’s shocking that the franchise hasn’t received a revival outside of a few TV movies that aired in the ’80s and ’90s. It’s not for a lack of trying – in fact, an update called The Six Billion Dollar Man has been making its way through development hell for almost thirty years at this point. Mark Wahlberg has been attached to star in the project since 2014… and during a recent interview with Collider, Wahlberg expressed hope that The Six Billion Dollar Man will finally be going into production soon.
Inspired by Martin Caidin’s 1972 novel Cyborg (which received three sequels), The Six Million Dollar Man had the following synopsis: After a severely injured test pilot is rebuilt with nuclear-powered bionic limbs and implants, he serves as an intelligence agent.

Welcome to the jungle, folks! While some action stars like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger delight in supporting one another along their respective journies throughout life and the entertainment industry, some discover there’s nowhere to run regarding the judgment of their peers. Unlike Sly and Arnie, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal have a long-running feud. Arguments can support that either star is the perfect weapon, but only one turned down $20M to fight the other, Van Damme says.
Speaking with The Telegraph, Van Damme told the outlet that film producer and executive Peter Guber once wanted to promote a fight between Van Damme and Seagal with a $20M payday.
“They were having an idea to have a fight between me and Steven at The Mirage [in Las Vegas],” Van Damme told the U.K.-based publication. “Twenty million each. He didn’t take the fight.”

Moviegoers are truly living in the golden age of post-credit scenes. What was once considered something of a novelty has been rendered a necessity in an era when the Marvel Cinematic Universe and other film franchises are expanding faster than Dwayne Johnson’s biceps in a 5 a.m. weight session. However, the concept’s origins date back further than the dawn of the superhero movie era or anything equally fast and furious. Back in 1966, in fact, Dean Martin was proving to the world that not all heroes wear capes or drive ludicrously fast cars; some prefer a suave suit and a scotch. He may have been known as a crooner, but in the 1960s, Martin also played the part of Matt Helm, a U.S. government counter agent in a series of films based on books by author Guy Hamilton.

When Is One Punch Man Chapter 190 Coming? Well, fans of One Punch Man have been on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the arrival of chapter 190.
The recent twist involving Atomic Samurai’s mistaken assessment of King as the mightiest swordsman has left enthusiasts speculating about the next turn of events.
While the acclaimed manga artist, Yusuke Murata, has yet to provide an update on the impending installment, the established biweekly publication schedule suggests a similar pattern for the forthcoming chapter.
In the previous chapter, readers witnessed the intriguing clash as Atomic Samurai attempted to engage King in combat to gauge his prowess.
However, a surprising turn of events saw King deftly avoiding the confrontation, leading to Atomic Samurai’s proposal of an apple-cutting challenge.
Yet, King’s exhaustion rendered him motionless, with his sword remaining sheathed, leaving Atomic Samurai in awe of his seemingly incomprehensible swiftness.

When Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ was released in 2013, we all thought a new era of DC had started since the movie was supposed to kick off a cinematic universe that was supposed to bring DC into the cinematic universe race with Marvel. However, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ received a mixed critical response, and despite grossing over $800 million worldwide, it was deemed a commercial disappointment since it was the first live-action movie that assembled Batman and Superman together.
In 2014, Warner Bros. and DC revealed their planned slate of DC movies, which included many solo movies like ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Aquaman,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Cyborg,’ and ‘The Green Lantern Corps.’ Now, nine years later, only three of these movies have been made, with the difference that ‘The Flash’ turned out to be very different from what it was originally planned. Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ tentpole summer release, “The Flash,” finally hits theaters this weekend, but the superhero movie had been beset by delays and off-screen controversies involving star Ezra Miller in the years before its release.
“The Flash” was initially revealed back in October 2014 as part of the inaugural DC Universe slate. It received a 2018 release date, alongside eventual releases like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad,” “Wonder Woman,” “Aquaman” and “Shazam.” However, parts of that plan didn’t come to fruition. Standalone “Cyborg” and “Green Lantern” movies were scrapped, and a two-part “Justice League” movie by Zack Snyder became one film.
Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, first debuted as the Flash in a cameo in 2016’s “Batman v Superman” and “Suicide Squad,” before joining the cast of “Justice League” in 2017. Ahead of the solo “Flash” movie, their only other appearances as the hero were cameos...

On Friday, June 16, an Ezra Miller movie called The Flash will finally play on cinema screens around the world. For Miller and members of the Warner Bros. Pictures team who were there in 2014 when the project was first announced, it is the culmination of nearly a decade of work, false starts, and the arduous process of seeing various directors and writers board and exit the production.
And yet, the actual atmosphere around the release seems relatively muted. Until the movie’s Los Angeles premiere earlier this week, Miller was conspicuously absent from all press days, leaving director Andy Muschietti and his sister/producer Barbara Muschietti, as well as stars Sasha Challe and Michael Shannon, to do all the interviews. Meanwhile, social media chatter seems to be as much concerned with the controversy surrounding Miller, as well as the film’s troubled production history, as it is with anything in the actual picture.

London-based Sideways Film has taken world sales on British director Carey Born’s “Cyborg: A Documentary” about a man who was born color blind and has an antenna embedded in his head to help contend with this condition.
Filmed in the U.K., Spain, Denmark, Australia and across the U.S. in New York, Los Angeles, San Jose and New Jersey, the doc about the world’s first officially recognized cyborg premiered last month at the Cph:dox festival in Copenhagen and was selected by the fest to screen online on its Para:dox platform.
“Cyborg” centers on “cyborg artist” Neil Harbisson who was born with a rare condition called achromatopsia, which means he sees only in black and white. In 2003 Harbisson had an illegal operation. A so-called “eyeborg” antenna was implanted in the back of his head enabling him to “hear colour” as waves that are translated into sound frequencies and transmitted to his auditory cortex.

The future of the DC Universe, as it is now known, has been revealed.
Peter Safran and James Gunn, the co-CEOs and chairmen of the newly formed DC Studios, unveiled their grand vision for the first batch of television series and movies for TheWrap and a small group of reporters on Monday. And it’s a doozy, with brand new animated series, HBO Max events and, of course, big movies, coming in the very near future.
This is a very different outlook for the DC properties, which up until Safran and Gunn’s appointment have been in complete disarray, with competing versions of the same characters appearing on television and in movies and a singular, interconnected vision forfeited for a reckless grab-bag of conflicting storylines with wildly varying tones and styles.

It is the earliest of days in the James Gunn-Peter Safran era of the DC Universe, and while the trade breaks have hit fast and furious over the last two weeks, precious little has been confirmed.
Here's what we know for certain: Gunn is scripting a new take on Superman that will take place during Clark Kent's early days as a cub reporter for The Daily Planet. This means Henry Cavill, despite his much-hyped reappearance as the Man of Steel in "Black Adam," is moving on (though Gunn and Safran have said they're eager to find a role for him in their reimagined Dcu). While Patty Jenkins is exiting as director of the "Wonder Woman" franchise, there's been no firm announcement about Gal Gadot's future as the Amazonian superhero.
According to Gunn, we'll have to wait until early January for more in-depth details on their plans for the Dcu.

Albert Pyun was a beloved B-movie filmmaker who brought audiences a total of 52 films as a director and who recently passed away leaving two upcoming films seemingly unfinished. Looking at his career, the man knew how to create interesting and entertaining films to say the least. His first release was the 1982 film The Sword and the Sorcerer and his newest was the 2018 film Death Heads: Brain Dead. The man seemed unstoppable, and he will be very missed. To celebrate the man and his work, here are 5 of our favorite films from the Pyuniverse.
The Sword and The Sorcerer (1982)
Pyun’s first film as a director, which he co-wrote with Tom Karnowski and John V. Stuckmeyer, The Sword and the Sorcerer is a medieval-esque epic film with magic, sword, babes, and a whole lot more. There’s a ton on here and the film goes in a few different directions, not...

Legendary B-movie director Albert Pyun passed away this week, leaving behind many glorious contributions to this column, including…
Cyborg (1989)
Director: Albert Pyun
Stars: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Deborah Richter, Vincent Klyn
Is There A Plot?
In a completely unimaginable future where a deadly plague and the collapse of civilized society have completely destroyed humanity, a martial arts mercenary hunts down the pirate warlord who killed his family. There’s also a cyborg occasionally.
What’S The Damage?
Cyborg has the esteemed distinction of being the last movie released by Cannon Films, purveyor of such B-movie classics as Superman IV, Over The Top, and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, before the company went bankrupt amid an SEC investigation. It’s a film that only exists because of two higher profile Cannon failures: a sequel to Dolph Lundgren’s Masters Of The Universe and, believe it or not, a live-action Spider-man movie. In the late 1980s,...

Kevin Spacey has booked his latest film project just weeks after winning a sexual battery lawsuit in the U.S., an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap on Monday.
The two-time Oscar winner will voice a mysterious and murderous antagonist who takes control of a self-driving car, akin to Kiefer Sutherland’s vocal performance in Joel Schumacher’s “Phone Booth.”
The film, entitled “Control” and written and directed by Gene Falliaze, is about a British government minister, Stella Simmons (Lauren Metcalf), who has an affair with the Prime Minister (Mark Hampton). One night, Simmons heads home in her self-driving car to find the vehicle remotely hijacked by someone who knows her secret and wants to punish her.
Shooting will take place early next year at Camberwell Studios and on location in London, while Spacey will wrap his purely voice-over role this week. The actor recently won a 40 million...

Albert Pyun, the filmmaker behind cult favorite B-movies like "The Sword and the Sorcerer" and "Cyborg," died on Saturday 26 November, 2022, at the age of 69. Albert's wife, Cynthia Curnan, shared the news on social media, writing, "I sat with him for his last breath that sounded like he was releasing the weight of the world."
Per Variety, Pyun had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and dementia in recent years, but kept working on projects up until his death. "Its so rote. It's so part of my DNA. It's something I can do fairly effortlessly to keep my mind active," he told the Wall Street Journal in 2018.
While genre movies, and superhero movies in particular, currently dominate the box office and have nine-figure production budgets as standard, Pyun thrived in the arena of low-budget filmmaking. In a retrospective on his career, Pyun said that he worked on the 1993 B-movie "Arcade" for free,...

“Batman and Robin will never die!” Those triumphant words, spoken in 2008’s Batman #676 by Grant Morrison and Tony S. Daniel, may have occurred in the comics, but they could apply to the movies as well. Case in point, despite numerous claims that he’s done with playing Batman after a cameo in The Flash, a recent Instagram post from Jason Momoa indicates that Ben Affleck will return as the Dark Knight for next year’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
This, of course, raises several questions about the current state of the DC movie universe. After all, Robert Pattinson starred in The Batman just earlier this year, and Michael Keaton has been touted as the primary Batman in The Flash and Batgirl. Does the reunion of Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Momoa’s Arthur Curry mean that the Snyderverse has indeed been restored?

I enjoyed the first issue of this book but did say in my review of that one that it was very much the introduction issue, so story took second place to establishing all the pieces on the board. It was still a great read of course, but it was more about the spectacle than the story. Issue 2’s are the real money books, where we get to see if there is substance to go with the style. This being Josh Williamson, I’m betting it will be a firm yes, but as always, the proof is in the pudding.
Let’s take a look.
That Pariah’s a naughty boy, isn’t he? I actually used to like him when he first appeared, he had a Shakespearean tragic hero quality about him when he inadvertently triggered the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

In 1989, Jean-Claude Van Damme was riding high off the unexpected success of Bloodsport. At the same time, The Cannon Group saw their fortunes declining fast after losing a ton of money on would-be blockbusters Lifeforce, Masters of the Universe, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Enter director Albert Pyun, who Cannon Films hired to direct both the hoped-for Spider-Man movie and a low-budget Masters of the Universe 2, which would have starred surfer Laird Hamilton. Eventually, Cannon decided…...

Deadline has confirmed that WarnerMedia has had an ongoing investigation being conducted on the Justice League production ever since Cyborg star Ray Fisher tweeted back on July 1 about director Joss Whedon’s “gross, abusive” conduct on set. By no means was the investigation recently launched, I understand, despite Fisher’s recent tweets today which we expound on below.
“Joss Whedon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable. He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Accountability>Entertainment,” Fisher tweeted back in July. This was alarming news considering Fisher’s thumbs up about Whedon at 2017 Comic-Con. The actor tweeted out that video footage of himself saying “I’d like to take a moment and forcefully retract every bit of this statement.”
A source with knowledge at the studio tells us that no findings have been made yet,...

Development continues on director Travis Knight's action feature "The Six Billion Dollar Man", updating TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1973), based on author Martin Caidin's novel "Cyborg" (1972):
"...when 'Nasa 'astronaut 'Colonel Steve Austin' is severely injured in the crash of an experimental aircraft, he is 'rebuilt' in an operation that costs $6 million , with his right arm, both legs and left eye replaced with 'bionic' implants that enhance his strength, speed and vision far above human norms.
"He can run at speeds of over 60 mph (97 km/h), and his eye has a 20:1 zoom lens and infrared capabilities, while his bionic limbs all have the equivalent power of a bulldozer. He uses his enhanced abilities to work for the 'Osi' ('Office of Scientific Intelligence') as a secret agent.."
"The Six Million Dollar Man" aired 100 episodes, spawning spinoff, "The Bionic Woman".

Of all the fan communities out there, those campaigning for the release of the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League are by far my favorite. Not only have they kept up their passion for more than two years, but they’ve done so without descending into bitterness, have remained organized and focused, and raised a bunch of money for worthy charities along the way. But will they get their wish?
Last week saw the biggest online push yet to convince Warner Bros. to release it as each day featured “one-hour tweet events” focused on members of the League: Wonder Woman on Monday, the Flash on Tuesday, Cyborg on Wednesday, Aquaman on Thursday and Batman on Friday. This added up to one big push on Sunday, the two year anniversary of Justice League‘s theatrical release. The campaign garnered support from the cast and crew, and we reported over the...

Of all the characters affected by Joss Whedon and Warner Bros.’ slimmed-down theatrical cut of Justice League, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg got the worst of it. Zack Snyder had envisioned a fascinating dramatic arc for the hero that positioned him as the heart of the movie. This was severely truncated in the released version, though, with the best bits of Fisher’s performance ending up on the cutting room floor. Since then, we’ve seen glimpses of what we missed out on, but now Zack Snyder has released (and Ray Fisher has retweeted) a picture of a scene showing Cyborg defending Star Labs from Steppenwolf.
Snyder captioned the picture “Defending the father” and the scene presumably shows Cyborg making a last-ditch attempt to prevent the Apokalyptian villain from seizing the Mother Box. It looks like a really interesting sequence, too, and if Cyborg suffered a beatdown from Steppenwolf earlier in the film,...
