Wrestling coach.....forger.
waterdeepguy30 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is FANTASTIC. Not your typical 80's flick. Robert Urich pulls off a pretty decent job at posing at a prison inmate who forges his way out of prison and into a high school teaching position and a wrestling coach. While teaching he finds that his star athlete, who by the way is a total punk who blows off everything, is illiterate. Robert Urich's character tutors him and finds that he has so much more talent/knowledge than he had ever imagined.

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of it? I had taped it back in the day onto a VHS tape...but have since worn it out. I need a copy! Please contact me: waterdeepguy@gmail.com

Escaped Con tries another life as teacher and wrestling coach.

A fairly predictable but enjoyable movie. It has been a while since I saw it but Urich uses his abilities as a forger to leave prison and eventually become a certified teacher. Especially satisfying to see is Urich's role and experiences as a wrestling coach. If you are an amateur wrestling fan then you will enjoy this movie.

One of the greatest sports movies ever
loganbeau7 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I am a fan of sports flicks. This one has always been one of my favorites. I rank it up there alongside Rudy, Hoosiers and Remember the Titans. Similar to Hoosiers, the movie takes a bad guy (in the words of the US Marshall, "We've got a bad guy who likes being a good guy") and puts him in a position to do some good. Throughout the story, he learns something about himself not yet discovered, and helps others do the same. In the end, it's a story of redemption and goodness, combined with some great sports sequences. And in an odd way, it ends up being a unique revenge story. If you like sports flicks, you'll want to give this one a watch. It also also some great quotes that are worthy adding to your vocabulary.

Broad audience TV movie about an ex-con doing the right thing
nathanloftis29 May 2001
Spooner explores two very common genres in one. The ex-con who tries a different life, and discovers it can be worthwhile, as well as those cheesy teacher-student dramas that have been milked for so much emotional response during the 80's and some of the nineties. Worth watching with kids, this movie has good values and all, but really no depth of plot or character at all. Pretty standard friendly family fare. Reminded me of Hoosiers for some reason. Haven't seen it since I was in elementary school.
