With the century’s biggest royal drama show The Crown ending its run back in 2023, the TV industry was surely left with no other choice but to switch its attention to something else rather than The Royal Family’s life full of its own ups and downs. This probably was accepted by many production companies, but not by Netflix.
The streaming’s Royal-ish release of last month Scoop wasn’t expected to be a hit that massive, but the movie’s results seemingly provoked a big change of plans for Netflix in the nearest years.

Emily Blunt’s first Oscar nomination was for the type of role the actress doesn’t normally play. Over the course of her career, the London-born actress has played badass action heroes, musical heroines, even delightfully bitchy supporting comic parts. But in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” Blunt goes into a totally different mode to play a embittered and humorless long-suffering wife type. It’s a jarring transformation; but, given her versatility, a predictably excellent one.
Born to a former actress and barrister in London, Blunt studied acting in boarding school and began her professional career at 18, when she debuted on a West End production of the play “The Royal Family.” In 2003 she transitioned to screen acting with the British miniseries “Boudica” and “Henry VIII,” before making her theatrical film debut as a haughty, arrogant rich girl in independent drama “My Summer of Love” in 2004.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen and heard the most ridiculous theories that’s ever been come up with to explain Princess Kate’s surgery and continued absence from the public eye.
While we now know she’s battling cancer of her own, when we didn’t know that, so many people tended to be convinced that she had donated her kidney to her also-ailing father-in-law King Charles.
Like what? As to these unfounded rumors, royal expert Katie Nicholl makes clear that they are what they are; unfounded rumors.

King Charles III and Prince William’s parts in 2022’s Platinum Jubilee concert weren’t a “coincidence,” according to Omid Scobie’s Endgame. In the newly-released book about the British royal family’s future, the author painted a picture of the Prince of Wales as what’s coming. Meanwhile, his father, King Charles, is seen simply as the one who will “pave the way.”
William and the king’s Platinum Jubilee concert remarks were indicative of their ‘true next stage’ and ‘bridge’ status
June 2022’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend celebrated the late Queen Elizabeth II’s landmark 70 years on the throne. While she was the one being honored over four days of festivities, the weekend’s star-studded concert hinted at what’s next.
Namely, King Charles’s reign followed by William’s. As such, the two were very much in the spotlight during the celebration, with their respective roles of “transitional...

When the 2022 Primetime Emmy nominations were revealed, Rhea Seehorn and Sydney Sweeney both had the honor of seeing their names come up twice. In addition to landing slots in the Best Drama Supporting Actress lineup for “Better Call Saul” and “Euphoria,” respectively, Seehorn (“Cooper’s Bar”) also competed for Best Short Form Actress while Sweeney (“The White Lotus”) was included among the Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actress contenders. Since neither of them had been recognized by the TV academy before, they became part of a group of 24 doubly-nominated Emmy first-timers.
Neither Seehorn nor Sweeney succeeded on either of her bids, but that isn’t surprising given the fact that only six of this group’s two dozen members have actually pulled off wins. The first such victor was Robert Cummings, who also originally established the club back in 1955. He received what would now be considered the Best Limited/Movie...

Fresh off of her second Tony Award victory last year for “The Sound Inside,” Mary-Louise Parker has earned a follow-up nomination in the same category for her work in the revival of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “How I Learned to Drive.” Parker returned to the haunting piece 25 years after she originated the role Off-Broadway, reuniting with costars David Morse – who also reaped a bid – and Johanna Day, plus director Mark Brokaw.
This nomination not only celebrates her exemplary performance, but also moves Parker into an extremely exclusive list of performers who have earned at least five nominations in the Best Play Actress category. Her first bid dates back to 1990, when she contended for “Prelude to a Kiss.” Over a decade later, Parker earned her second nomination for “Proof” and went on to win the prize. In the following two decades, she earned another nom for “Reckless” in 2005 and last year for “The Sound Inside,...

Actor Ryan Dorsey expressed grief over ex-wife Naya Rivera’s death Saturday evening on social media. Dorsey took to Instagram to memorialize his late partner’s life. They had one son together, Josey Hollis, who was with Rivera the day of her disappearance.
“This is so unfair… There’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts. I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it. You were just here… We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair. I don’t know what to say” wrote Dorsey.
Dorsey married Rivera in 2014. They initially filed for divorce in 2016 before calling the separation off in 2017. Following a domestic battery charge on Rivera in November 2017 she subsequently refiled for divorce. They finalized their divorce in 2018 agreeing on temporary joint custody of their child.

Mary-Louise Parker could add a second Tony Award to her mantle this year to join her 2001 trophy for “Proof.” After receiving rave reviews for her performance in “The Sound Inside,” industry watchers pegged her as the early Tony frontrunner for Lead Actress – Play. The only problem is that she will face stiff competition….from herself.
“The Sound Inside” marked the Broadway debut of the Pulitzer Prize finalist author Adam Rapp (“Red Light Winter”). Parker starred as college writing professor Bella, who lives a mostly solitary life. The only person she seems to have time for is the sole other character in the drama, Christopher (Will Hochman), one of her students. Bella brings the audience on an emotional journey as she deals with the emotional turmoil surrounding a cancer diagnosis. The hypnotic script gifted Parker with a meaty role (she never left the stage) full of dense language and complicated emotions.

We’ve reached the quarter-final stage of “The Masked Singer” with just six of the 12 stars still in the competition. Of these half dozen, who all sang on December 10, we are absolutely certain about the identity of one: the Tree. After watching all of her performances plus the clue videos, we are now even more convinced that we know the name of the famous face hidden behind that elaborate mask.
The Tree was the hit of week 1 with her cover of “High Hopes” by the Panic! at the Disco. We didn’t see her again until week 5 but the wait was worth it as she rocked the house with her version of the Aretha Franklin classic “Think.” Two weeks later, she changed it up with her rendition of the Meghan Trainor hit “No Excuses.”
In week 8, she secured her place in the quarterfinal with her over-the-top take on “Total Eclipse...

“The Masked Singer” episode on December 4 featured four celebrities disguised as a Butterfly, Fox, Thingamajig and Tree. Each of them sang for votes from the studio audience and was determined not to end up in the bottom two. That meant a sudden death sing-off with the four judges determining who would be eliminated.
Of the four famous folk competing in week 8, the biggest surprise has been the Tree. She first appeared on the premiere when she stole the show with her version of the Panic! at the Disco hit “High Hopes.” She returned in week 5 and earned roars of approval for her cover of the Aretha Franklin classic “Think.” And in week 7, she showed her range with her rendition of the Meghan Trainor tune “No Excuses.”
We’ve been doing some digging and now know the name of the celebrity who has branched out to become a Tree. Keep reading...

It’s almost impossible to spot Spike Edney in video of Queen’s legendary set at Live Aid, but if you pause the footage near the end of “Hammer to Fall” at the 12:22 mark you can just about see him in the background. He’s the dark-haired fellow playing guitar next to a wall of keyboards. Queen hired him a year earlier to contribute keyboards, piano, backing vocals and rhythm guitar and he’s been there ever since, helping out with everything from their 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute show at...

You're not the only one who loves photos of The Royal Family. After Queen Elizabeth met with Britain's new prime minister Boris Johnson at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, eagle-eyed royal admirers noticed a few of Her Majesty's personal pictures displayed in the background. Royal admirers will likely recognize a few of the snapshots, too. There was one photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton from their engagement shoot and another picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their engagement days. In addition, there was a photo of the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex in their official Household Cavalry uniforms. This wasn't the first time royal admirers had seen these photos. Fans...

For most actors, a Broadway debut would be the highlight of their year. For Jeremy Pope, he followed up his sensational Broadway debut with another hit show within the same season. Thanks to his stellar notices in “Choir Boy” and then “Ain’t Too Proud,” Pope could pull off the rare feat of earning two Tony nominations within the same season.
Pope played the lead role of Pharus Jonathan Young in “Choir Boy.” The actor was involved with the production since Manhattan Theater Club commissioned the work in 2013. Written by Tarell Alvin McCraney (“Moonlight”), the coming of age story follows Pharus, the leader of the student choir at a boy’s prep school. He learns to confront bullying, his sexuality, and identity, and gets to sing a slew of glorious gospel songs.

Emily Blunt has come a long way from playing assistant to Meryl Streep. The Mary Poppins Returns actress never anticipated acting alongside her "inspiration," when she first started out in her career in her home country of Britain. However, four years after making her onstage debut in West End plays like The Royal Family, Emily found herself in presence of the critically-acclaimed actress on the set of The Devil Wears Prada in 2005. Understandably, the young actress was starstruck. Then, she was entirely flabbergasted when Meryl complimented her on her role of Emily in The Devil Wears Prada, soon after they wrapped filming. "She burst out of her trailer and the wig was...

Let’s assume that you, like me, were not among the 600 guests to receive an invitation to attend the wedding of Britain’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Nor will we be among the thousands invited to stand on the grounds of Windsor Castle to watch the wedding party enter and leave. Thankfully, the Internet has us covered.
Here are some ways to watch the royal wedding, which is scheduled for 7 Am Et/zero dark ugly Pt on Saturday.
YouTube
The Royal Family will live-stream the festivities on the Royal Family’s official YouTube channel — that’s the feed Deadline will use Saturday morning. The coverage will follow the wedding procession, the ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, and wedding day happenings along the way. The footage will be available afterwards so people can watch at their convenience, whether they’re from Blighty or anywhere else on the globe.

Jan Maxwell, a beloved mainstay of New York City theater, died on Feb. 11 at the age of 61. Over the course of her illustrious career, in which she appeared in 13 Broadway and numerous Off-Broadway productions, Maxwell earned five Tony Award nominations for her work in both musicals and plays, comedies and dramas, displaying a near-unparalleled mastery of both genres.
Maxwell first appeared on the Great White Way in the original production of “City of Angels” as an understudy, swing, and replacement. Her first bid at the Tony Awards came over a decade later for her featured role in the musical “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” in 2005, for which she won her first Drama Desk Award. She went on to earn Tony nominations for her performances in the play “Coram Boy” (2007) and in revivals of “Lend Me a Tenor” (2010) and “The Royal Family” (2010), taking home her second Drama Desk for the latter.
