Forgettable children's movie

Warning: Spoilers
"Ein Fall für TKKG: Drachenauge" is a German 80-minute film from 1992, so it will have its 25th anniversary next year. There are many audio works about the TKKG gang, a group of kids solving mysteries and usually running into gangsters, but this is the first (of so far 2) times that they also made it to the big screen at theaters. I would say that the quality here is not good enough to recommend this to anybody except children, but why would one say something like that? Don't you want your kids to grow up and watch quality stuff instead of forgettable movies. II know I would, if I was a father or a child again. This film is about caves, castles and criminals and certainly has a touch of history attached to it as well. But overall, it is just a pretty disappointing outcome. The performances are over-the-top mostly in a fairly bad way and the script is not any better and rarely achieves the tension and excitements it goes for so desperately. The writers are the Kalmuczaks and their work here does not make me curious about other projects. Then again, it looks as if they did not work on anything significant really other than TKKG. The director is Ulrich König and I believe that this one here is weaker than his work on "Hatschipuh" and much weaker than his work on "Pumuckl". The cast does not really include any big names and all the child actors, or almost all, have not pursued acting careers. The grown-up actors include many names that are already dead, which is a bit sad, but not too surprising as this film is already a quarter of a century old. I don't think it has aged well and there are many superior projects in terms of kids entertainment from Germany these days. Don't watch.

An adventure

Warning: Spoilers
"Ein Fall für TKKG: Drachenauge" tells the story of the famous German junior detectives TKKG, who discover a cave that hides a treasure from the middle ages. When they try to gain the support of their history teacher, a series of events unfolds, that could set the four kids at high risk.

I'm generally not the biggest fan of the series, I prefer the three investigators. However, I find that this film is carried out with a lot of love and I absolutely adore the element of treasure hunting presented here. Of course this is not a genre changer and neither will it have a lasting impact, but it is a very beautiful and surprisingly tough kid's movie that keeps you entertained and guessing for the right way. I can only say that I liked it more than most of the cases on cd.

All in all this is a great adventure that most children will probably love. It is thrilling, mysterious and yet delivers some well-known characters and a clever plot.
