- Young Helmut Köpper has nearly finished his police training in Northern Germany. All that's left is a trainee period at a police station. He'd like to do that in one of the bigger cities, preferably close to his co-trainee Nina Stenhagen. But Köppe is transferred to a small rural town instead. The most exciting thing happening here are mysterious and brutal cow murders. Köppe befriends Elle, whose pursuits aren't always legal. When Elle steals the Golf convertible of young, pretty and spoiled Annarina, Köppe has to arrest his friend. But when he proudly brings Annarina's car back, hoping to impress her, he has to realize that she already has a boy-friend. Köppe resorts to drinking. Driving around drunk, he manages to alienate his friend Nina, irritate a lot of people and finally to get kicked out of police academy. In the end, all he has is Elle - and, surprisingly, Nina. In this movie appears Christian Berkel who will later play the role of Fritz Shimon Haber in Haber (2008).
