With a career that began in 1990, survived a break-up, Robbie Williams’ solo success, and Jason Orange leaving, it’s safe to say that Take That have done rather well. Writer Tim Firth utilised the band’s music for a jukebox musical which took the Mamma Mia! approach, before its success led to Firth adapting the musical to a film directed by Coky Giedroyc.
The story flashes back to 1993, where five best friends are obsessed with a band called “The Boys” who are not Take That, despite having hits such as Relight My Fire, Pray, and Never Forget. As the English summer settles into its brief annual pomp, so too arrives Greatest Days, the “official Take That musical”, adapted by Tim Frith from his own play and directed with a steady hand by Coky Giedroyc, and as wholesome, heady summer parties go you could do far worse. What could have been a jukebox retreade of some pop fluff here becomes a vibrant celebration of fandom’s sheer emotional transport. It’s very funny, very British, a little weird and extremely satisfying.
Aisling Bea is great as Rachel, a forty-something nurse who wins a golden ticket of sorts: a chance to see her teenage obsession, a nameless boyband, perform live in Athens. It sets in motion a reconnection with her old friends and themes, long since gone their separate ways since their time as screaming fans fantasising about life outside the seaside town of Clitheroe and living vicariously through some proper pop bangers.

Lollapalooza 2022 kicked off on Thursday in Chicago’s Grant Park with headliners Metallica, Lil Baby, and Caroline Polachek. Like the variety offered at the topline of the fest, the day featured an eclectic mix of music. From TikTok stars to rock royalty and the return of the Kidzapalooza stage for the first time in three years, there was something for every age group on Day 1. And if there was an underlying theme beyond appealing to a wide swath of fans, a handful of artists with famous kinfolk are taking center stage throughout the four-day festival.

“Remember Me” from Disney/Pixar’s animated musical “Coco” is the likeliest winner of the Best Original Song Oscar to come along in a while (it’s written by “Let It Go” songwriters Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez). With this category, the Academy music branch tends to lean into musicals and major pop stars singing songs over the closing credits. This year, 70 songs are eligible for the Oscars.
Also on the musical front, Alan Menken, Howard Ashman & Tim Rice wrote the song “Evermore” for “Beauty and the Beast,” performed by Josh Groban, while “La La Land” lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Justin Paul wrote “This is Me” for “The Greatest Showman.”
Among established musicians, this year Sufjan Stevens wrote and sings “The Mystery of Love” for “Call My By Your Name,” while Elvis Costello sings haunting “You Shouldn’t Look at Me That Way” on the soundtrack for “Film...

It’s been declared “a date which will live in infamy” but President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump both made errors when referencing Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in a pair of tweets on Thursday.
The president’s tweet misquoted then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s address to a Joint Congressional Session following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
“National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day — ‘A day that will live in infamy!’ December 7, 1941,” Trump tweeted.
In fact, Roosevelt famously called Dec. 7 “a date which will live in infamy.”
Meanwhile, the first lady got the month of the attack wrong in her tweet.

A movie about how much of a royal pain in the ass it was to kill someone before civilians had easy access to Ar-15s, Kenneth Branagh’s “Murder on the Orient Express” is an undercooked Christmas ham of a movie, the kind of flamboyant holiday feast that Hollywood doesn’t really serve anymore. Arrestingly sumptuous from the very first shot (and filmed in glorious 65mm), this cozy new riff on Agatha Christie’s classic mystery is such an old-fashioned yarn that it could have been made back in 1934 if not for all the terrible CGI snow and a late-career, post-disgrace Johnny Depp performance that reeks of 21st century fatigue. Indeed, it’s hard to overstate just how refreshing it feels to see a snug, gilded piece of studio entertainment that doesn’t involve any spandex. Or, more accurately, how refreshing it would have felt had Branagh understood why Christie...

It’s all love and light for Teresa Giudice and Danielle Staub.
Danielle made her triumphant-ish return to The Real Housewives of New Jersey last month after more than seven years away from the show.
“I guess I kinda brought her back, with no regrets,” Teresa tells Et. “I really feel like she didn't get a fair chance and I just wanted her to know I had no [part in] what happened.”
Teresa is referencing Danielle’s ousting from the series following its second season, during which Danielle became public enemy No. 1 for most of the cast -- Teresa included. She was effectively fired from the show.
“Her job got taken away, 'cause people refused to film with her, and to me, that's really wrong,” Teresa says. “I wanted her to know ... I never said that, but other people did and her job got taken away, and I felt bad.”

Thor: Ragnarok will no doubt go down as one of Marvel's funniest and most enjoyable films in the entire McU, but it will forever be missing the funniest Marvel character. Ragnarok already features an impressive lineup of Marvel heroes like The Hulk, Thor, Valkyrie, and villains like Hela, so how could you possibly up the ante? Maybe by adding a certain merc with a mouth? Ragnarok director Taika Waititi was recently asked by a fan on Twitter who he would bring in if he could choose any Marvel character, Waititi responded:

It's been over 10 years since Miley Cyrus debuted as her beloved Disney Channel character Hannah Montana and became a worldwide sensation at just 13 years old. Now, the singer is reflecting on her time on the show, and the lasting impact her childhood stardom has had on her.

That pressure weighed on Cyrus, who felt like she struggled to balance being a young person and a professional all at once.

Here's some rather surprising news: Michelle Pfeiffer sings the closing credits song of Murder on the Orient Express. The song is called "Never Forget" which we never in danger of doing for anything Pfeiffer. Though opinions vary about how well the goddess sings, we personally love it when she croons. Case in point: Grease 2 (1982), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), The Prince of Egypt (1998), and Hairspray (2007). Listen it's not her fault that her character in Up Close and Personal (1996) was supposed to be a bad singer or that "Miss Baltimore Crabs" is Hairspray's worst song!
"Never Forget" is written by two-time Oscar nominee Patrick Doyle, a regular on Kenneth Branagh films, who also composes the score. La Pfeiffer is, of course, not the sort who would deign to sing in front of the whole world on Oscar night so they will reassign the vocals if the song is nominated.

Law & Order True Crime is taking on the Menendez brothers murder case.
In NBC’s new eight-episode true-crime drama, Edie Falco plays defense attorney Leslie Abramson, who represents Lyle (Miles Gaston Villanueva) and Erik Menendez (Gus Halper) in the brothers’ trial for the murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. The brothers were convicted in 1996 of the crime, and Law & Order True Crime attempts to examine why they did it.
For relative newcomers Villanueva and Halper, the road to seeing Law & Order True Crime come to the small screen has been long and arduous. Villanueva, a former Young & the Restless soap star, turned down role of Lyle due to a previous commitment to a play, before the part came back around again months later. Halper first auditioned for Lyle last October (“Right away they said, this is wrong,” he laughed) before re-auditioning for Erik and landing the part in February.

You can tell a lot about a person by the television they watch and the books they read — even while they reveal their theories as to why they lost a Presidential election.
Clinton’s new memoir, “What Happened,” chronicling her experiences surrounding the 2016 election, is surprisingly candid on a number of levels. For example, regarding her coping mechanisms following the loss of the election, “It wasn’t all yoga and breathing: I also drank my share of chardonnay.”
But even more fascinating are the ways in which she invokes current pop culture. Some of the references feel more forced than others. Some of them are truly bonkers.
This is not a complete list of every reference made, as we omitted some of the religious, spiritual, and historical texts upon which she drew to make her points. Instead, here is all the evidence you need that the Clintons know their way around a TV remote,...

Picking favorites when it comes to “30 Rock” is an awful proposition because the whole series, barring a handful of exceptions, remains an extremely watchable and fascinating comedic journey. But with the show leaving Netflix at the beginning of October (and thus becoming completely unstreamable), we find ourselves in the unfortunate position of having to choose favorites.
Twenty-five episodes equates to less than 10 hours, so you should be able to make the time before September 30. And the adventures of Liz Lemon, Tracy Jordan, Jenna Maroney, Jack Donaghy, and beyond are worth it.

It’s no secret that Thor’s had a bit of a tough time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first two films failed to excite audiences and are often considered to be amongst the weakest efforts that the studio’s produced. At least, as far as the McU goes. But then Thor: Ragnarok came along and all of the sudden, the God of Thunder is all that anyone can talk about, with his upcoming threequel shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of the year.

Many have played the Game of Thrones, and most of them have lost. Robb Stark, Stannis Baratheon, Olenna Tyrell, and countless others have seemed on the verge of getting what they most wanted before meeting violent, often ignominious ends; simply surviving this long counts as a massive victory unto itself. Relatively few characters have, of course, and even fewer stand a chance of making it through the show’s last six episodes — let alone ending up in any position of power.
Here are the 10 who do, and how they might go about doing so.

Silver & Black will be Sony's second film in their own Spider-Man Universe, following Venom, which has a release date of October 5, 2018. Silver & Black will follow the classic Spider-Man allies Silver Sable and Black Cat in their own adventure. Lisa Joy (Westworld) and Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) have both worked on the screenplay, which will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Secret Life of Bees, Beyond the Lights). That's all we really know for sure about the film, save for the release date, which has just come to light.

The Defenders drops on Netflix this Friday! Are you ready?
As I've been explaining it to anyone who has not watched Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, or Iron Fist, The Defenders is Marvel taking their Avengers formula and applying it to the Netflix series format, only with a much darker tone. Just as with The Avengers, we've had solo series of each of these characters who will now come together to form an unlikely "team," that no one, but Iron Fist / Danny Rand, wants to belong to. As is with The Avengers, the Defenders will face a foe unlike they have ever faced before. Between this and having to play nice with others, will our heroes evolve in their own series, changed by what they have seen in their big team-up spectacular?

A bedridden grandmother was overcome with tears when her grandson surprised her by singing her favorite song for her 98th birthday.
Ash Ruiz, of Boulder, Colorado, is a former member of the popular Puerto Rican boy band, Menudo. He continues to perform with members during reunion tours in Central and South America, which keeps him from visiting his beloved grandmother, Gina Rosa Offord Disanto Evangelista Ciasco, who lives in Palm Beach County, Florida.
“Every part of her life, from the way she spoke to the way she listened, demonstrated her love, strength, and compassion for her family,” Ruiz, 41, tells People.

Both Brandy and Monica shared birthday messages to the late Whitney Houston on Wednesday, but the end result was not so celebratory.

Then hours later, Brandy shared her own post of a photo collage of herself and the late icon together, writing: “You live on in me… I can feel your Spirit inside of me and all around me. My angel, my friend,...

Never Forget: Schroeder Quietly Examines Cultural Identity in Isolation
In an intriguingly varied career, which was kick started during the early days of the Nouvelle Vague when he starred in and produced titles by Eric Rohmer and Jean-Luc Godard, Barbet Schroeder’s filmography reflects a haphazard cultural influence, perhaps no more evident than in his own directorial output, beginning with 1969’s More.

Image Source: Getty / Christopher Polk Beyoncé has become a force to be reckoned with since strutting her way into the music scene back in 1997 with Destiny's Child. The Lemonade diva has more than earned her title as "Queen Bey" over the last two decades, but one thing that seems to keep some people up at night (yes, really!) is whether or not you pronounce her royal highness's name as "Queen Bee" or "Queen Bay." If you're part of the Beyhive, then you should already know the answer, so feel free to use this for future reference when someone dares to mispronounce the queen's title, but allow us finally put this - admittedly silly - debate to rest. The correct pronunciation of "Queen Bey" is Queen Bee. Like queen of the bees. Like the bees you embarrassingly run from in the Summer. Like bees who are unfortunately dying at an alarming rate.

President Donald Trump on Monday marked the one-year anniversary of the deadly mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, vowing in a tweet that America will “Never Forget” the 49 victims who lost their lives in the tragedy.
But for many of his critics, his sentiments came a year too late.
On the day of the shooting on June 12, 2016, before most of the victims were even identified, Trump, then a candidate, sent out a tweet congratulating himself on “being right on radical Islamic terrorism.”
“Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism,” he wrote at the time.

A popular fan theory is that the two have been embroiled in a long-running feud, but most of the supposed drama has really played out through elusive quotes in magazine profiles and subtweets that don’t really say anything at all – until now.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best new opening title sequence for the 2016-2017 TV season?
Todd VanDerWerff (@tvoti), Vox
I’m kind of into the way “The Handmaid’s Tale” starts every episode with ambient sound and those big, block letters in the title. And I’d be lying if I said the week “The Leftovers” was randomly scored to the “Perfect Strangers” theme song wasn’t an absolute delight. Also, I’m digging the new “Twin Peaks” credits. But for great new title sequences, the one for “Stranger Things” has to take the cake. That music! That neon! That minimalism! I had my quibbles with “Stranger Things...

One fascinating aspect of today’s media landscape is that many creators and executive producers enjoy using Twitter to engage with their audiences, share behind-the-scenes information about their shows, chat about politics, and otherwise communicate about what matters to them. My wife’s birthday happens to fall on the 21st of September so needless to say the song “September” by Earth Wind and Fire holds a special meaning in her heart. Every single time that song comes on the radio or during a wedding we’re attending there’s no such thing as even thinking about turning it off and not grooving to the wonderful sounds. But if there’s one thing I would never, not in a million years associate with the song “September” it’s the metallic sounds of Ozzy Osbourne. Aardman co-founder Peter Lord grabbed a ball of clay before his conversation last week at the Fmx International Conference on Animation, Effects, Vr, Games and Transmedia in Stuttgart, Germany, and slowly molded a puppet of Morph, Aardman’s first creation, while discussing 40 years of stop-motion glory at its animation studio in Bristol, England.
From “Wallace & Gromit” to “Creature Comforts” to “Shaun the Sheep,” Aardman will be firmly dedicated to the hand-crafted technique of stop-motion as long as audiences continue to embrace it. For Lord, who co-founded Aardman with school chum David Sproxton before adding animator-director Nick Park to the creative team, it’s all about the comedy of manners and empathy.

Keeping up with Rob and Chyna is a full-time job. Even for the Kardashians.
On Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 13 Episode 7, the family debates giving Rob and Chyna a season two of their show, and tries to help Rob see how unhealthy his relationship is.
This season the Kardashians have been starting episodes with a cold open, and each one is more ridiculous (but also wonderful?) than the last.

Kendall: Does cheese make you fat?

Here we see Kris offer Kendall cheese for her chili, and Kendall declines and asks the rhetorical question, "does cheese make you fat?"
It's basically this generation's "is butter a carb?"
Kendall also freaks out because she just got her teeth whitened and wasn't' supposed to be eating tomatoes.
