This entry is NOT for the eponymous 1999 Stars Ron Livingston - Jennifer Aniston feature, but the animated short predecessor by the director

The director Mike Judge, the mind behind Beavis and Butthead, foreshadows the idea of Office Space in this 1992 animated short, a full 7 years before the feature film.

It is pretty incredible how the animated short presages the essence of the Milton and Lumbergh characters. Or rather, I should say that watching this short made me realize how good Stephen Root in the movie in inhabiting a character that had only lived in an animated short. Gary Cole has made a living out of playing the cowboy, but of course he was perfect as the boss Bill Lumbergh in Office Space. Watching this short, one is amazed at how well the animated version aligns with the live action - even Lumbergh looks as if the cartoon were based on the live action, not the other way around.

Overall, this short is a treat for any fan of Office Space.

Too Funny!

I saw this animated short on a Comedy Central re-run of Saturday Night Live and laughed so hard, I've been going crazy to find out more about it. The animation is similar to the Dr. Katz series and consists entirely of a man sitting behind a desk complaining about stuff at his job.

The funniest thing is that this guy reminds me of people I have known in my life time. I'm sure many people will be able to relate to this guy.

I hope this short turns up on a DVD some day (it may already be).

10 stars.

Very interesting

It's wonderful to see where Office Space (1999) came from. It's a very humorous short film with the exact awkwardness that the film delivered. It's beautiful to see that these stupid shorts can turn into something bigger and more beautiful.

Need I say more? No, not really but this flick has everything you could ever want. Lumberg, the idiot middle-manager, Marvin the Geek, young Jennifer Aniston, and more. Its a thing of beauty.

Warning: Spoilers
"Office Space" is a 90-second cartoon short film from almost 25 years ago written by, directed by and starring the voice of Mike Judge. He made a live action full feature based on this one a couple years later. It's fairly famous, but I have not seen that one, so i cannot speak about parallels and differences here. Anyway, this short film here is about a man who hates his office job, gets bullied by his co-worker and consequently talks about setting the building on fire. i thought this was neither too funny to watch nor particularly interesting for any other reason. I see Judge got quite some awards recognition recently for "Silicon Valley", so he certainly must have stepped up his game after this very early work from him here. Good for him. Still, I cannot recommend this movie of his here. Thumbs down. The animation is a letdown too, even for the early 1990s.
