great show for children and grown ups
UETF-agent26 December 2005
I had the chance to see this TV show and I found it was great. A good children show, nothing spectacular or over the top funny but there was a dream-like, poetic quality to these two children completely separated from the world of adults. If I remember correctly much of the show was taking place in the boy's bedroom with a lot of dialogue, like filmed theater, but it was still interesting. You might enjoy this show if you like stories such as "little nemo" the cartoon. It was similar to the recent movie but more centered on the children and their point of view.

The keyword here is "refreshing", if you can put your hand on a recording, I recommend to watch it one episode a day.

Great show (after a bumpy start) - much closer to the books

While the first attempt at turning the books into a movie/show in cooperation with the Canadian television and English actors is still in my head, this sequel completely passed me by - unfortunately, because that is the little vampire, as you imagine him. Not exactly the character of Rüdiger- who is a better casting choice than Joel Dacks (this is not a criticism of his acting talent, but his fitness to the character in the books), he is still not the vampire you imagine while reading the books, but he comes much closer. In addition, the first version, completely designed for the international market, completely lost the charm and coziness of the book, while the second version/sequel leaves the events where they belong: in Germany - and no, this is not nationalism (at best healthy patriotism), but logical thinking, since the strength of German children's stories like Pumuckl and The Little Vampire is just in the coziness of German backyard carpenters / core families etc., and therefore setting it right there is most effective / best suited. One thing has to be admitted: the first episode of The Little Vampire's new adventures is pretty much subterranean in terms of direction and screenwriting (esp. Rüdiger, Lumpi and Helga B./Anton's mother act in such an exaggerated / contrived way that they are more spooky than the idea of meeting Aunt Dorothee in the open at night. After that, it gets much better / good, and the optics/looks are great from the beginning anyway. Too bad that this version did not come out until most of the fans had already given up disappointedly after the first version, because these new adventures deserve much more attention - more of this, please !!
