- TriviaManisha Koirala's casting proved to be a very disaster situation. Subhash Ghai and Manmohan Desai had a on going feud. When Desai offered her the film she accepted it and this angered Ghai. He questioned her how could she work with his enemy. Manisha agreed to walk out of the film to make Ghai happy. Ketan Desai knew that Manisha was under a 3 film contract with Ghai and Manisha would have to give priority to Ghai's film when ever he would start one. Ketan decided to have face to face meeting with Ghai and clear up all problems. Ghai finally agreed to let Manisha do the film.

Bollyversion of Cinderella Where The Prince Charming Is An Obese Popstar Wannabe
'Anmol' is a clichéd Bollywood adaptation of the famous fairy tale Cinderella. There are a few Bollywoodized differences, for example the stepmom selling 'Cinderella' to a brothel as her ultimate revenge. Really, this is just another ridiculous Bollywood love story of the early 90s. Rishi Kapoor was still in his chronic fat-popstar syndrome phase as here he plays a fat popstar wannabe who makes a living singing in hotels and libraries (of all places!). Wait, he's not exactly poor poor. He has a super-rich dad (Sayed Jaffrey) who does not approve his career in singing and thus temporarily disowns him. The dialogues a pretty crap and repetitive. Johnny Lever has an item number too. But anyway, enough with the negatives. There are only two things likable about 'Anmol'. One is the music. Although the lyrics may not be the best, the tunes and melodies are beautiful and the songs are hummable. a young luminous Manisha Koirala is pleasant to watch. She does overact in a few scenes but otherwise she's a graceful presence. So, the movies sucks but Manisha and the soundtrack don't.
