Originally a danish production. Saks Film went for two years searching for actors for the Norwegian version, but was never satisfied with any of the auditions. So it was basically shelved until a danish wife of an stage-instructor who worked at a theater where The Traveling Strawberries performed often. She knew Hans Erik Saks and gave him a tip of the performing trio who could sing very well. Saks productions called Ivar Gafseth and invited him to Denmark to discuss the show, but refused when they told him he had to buy the plane tickets himself. After much back and forth, Hans Erik Saks eventually came home to Gafseth house in Trondheim, Norway where they auditioned and recorded test scenes for the show.
Norwegian newspapers gave the show poor ratings. But when it came clear it became a major success. a few of these publications went out with an apology for the poor ratings.
