Christopher Nolan recently proclaimed that the decision to hire Robert Downey Jr. to play Tony Stark in “Iron Man” was “one of the most consequential casting decisions that’s ever been made in the history of the movie business.”
By the end of this decade, the same might be said for the four actors who were just cast as the titular superheroes in Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four”: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Like Downey, all of these actors have had recent experiences with big-budget productions — Pascal with “The Mandalorian” and “The Last of Us,” Kirby with the two most recent “Mission: Impossible” films, Quinn with “Stranger Things” and Moss-Bachrach with “Andor.” But, also like Downey, none of them have headlined their own studio action blockbuster before signing up with Marvel.

Marvel's first family has swooped in unexpectedly to wish the masses a happy Valentine's Day as part of Marvel Studios' official cast announcement for what is now being called "The Fantastic Four." As you can see from the first-look artwork, all your faves are present and accounted for. There's Reed Richards, the stretch-tastic Mister Fantastic himself (Pedro Pascal); his partner in science, life, and superheroing, Sue "The Invisible Woman" Storm (Vanessa Kirby); Sue's quite literally hot-headed younger brother Johnny (Joseph Quinn), aka The Human Torch; their gruff, street-wise pal Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach); and, of course, there's H.E.R.B.I.E., can't forget about him!
Wait, who?
Yes, if you found yourself wondering who the Johnny 5-like 'bot holding a cup on the "Fantastic Four" poster was, you're indubitably not alone. Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-type, Integrated Electronics or H.E.R.B.I.E. was...

After today's thrilling announcement about the "Fantastic Four" movie finally peeled back the curtain on Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated reboot, only one question remains in the minds of super-fans everywhere: When exactly will this film take place? Previous live-action versions made the choice to set the action in the present day, struggling to various degrees of success in translating the legendary superhero team into more modern trappings. That hasn't always panned out so well, so perhaps Marvel's Kevin Feige would set up this new take on Marvel's first family for success by taking a wholly different approach altogether -- one that hearkens back to the Fantastic Four's comic book origins. The new title treatment and font already hint at a certain throwback tone and sense of aesthetics, but are there any other clues worth paying attention to that might add more fuel onto Johnny Storm's fire?
You bet there are.

1961’s Fantastic Four may have kicked off the Marvel Universe, but the Ff aren’t really superheroes. They are explorers, they are scientists, and yes, they do fight supervillains such as Doctor Doom, but at their heart, the Fantastic Four are a family.
So when Marvel officially announced the cast for next year’s Fantastic Four movie with a Twitter post, the good news isn’t the cast. Pedro Pascal has long been rumored to play Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards, as has Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm-Richards aka Invisible Girl/Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch/Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Aunt Petunia’s favorite nephew the Thing.

It’s castin’ time.
On Valentine’s Day, Marvel Studios finally confirmed months of speculation and rumors by revealing the cast of the brand’s upcoming reboot of “The Fantastic Four.” Officially aboard the future superhero blockbuster as Marvel’s first family is Pedro Pascal (playing Reed Richards a.k.a Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (as Sue Storm a.k.a. Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (as Johnny Storm a.k.a Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (as Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing). Those four actors have been connected to the project by informed online speculation since last summer.
To announce its cast, Marvel posted a retro poster that calls back to the Fantastic Four’s comic origins in 1961. Whether the film itself will serve as a period piece, which would make it an outlier in the official Marvel Cinematic Universe, is unknown at present time.

Marvel is sure showing us some love this Valentine’s Day with some news updates. Firstly, news has just broken that the confirmed cast of The Fantastic Four is Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Marvel Studios would amusingly make the announcement in an unusually casual manner by posting a Valentine’s Day greetings on the official Instagram account with old-fashioned artwork which emulates Valentine’s Day cards from yesteryears. This is also days after the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer dropped during Super Bowl Lviii and became the most-watched trailer on YouTube.
Additionally, the folks at Disney have now unveiled, in a release, their upcoming schedule for their Marvel films. It has been revealed through this schedule that some dates have been changed for certain films. Firstly, on their schedule, Disney has updated the title to the previously known Deadpool 3 to the official Deadpool & Wolverine...

Once again, Marvel's long-awaited "Thunderbolts" movie has been given a new release date. The good news for those looking forward to this one is that, for once, Disney has moved the film up by a couple of months rather than delay it again. Whether or not this date is the one that sticks remains to be seen, but mark your calendars for May 2, 2025, and plan accordingly.
Marvel Studios did a little bit of shuffling around with its release calendar, with "The Fantastic Four" taking over the July 25, 2025, release date that was previously held by "Thunderbolts." In announcing the new dates, Marvel also finally confirmed the cast for "Fantastic Four," with Pedro Pascal playing Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby playing Sue Storm, Ebon Moss Bachrach playing Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn playing Johnny Storm. Most of those names have been circling the rumor mill for some time, but have finally been made official.

The Walking Dead and Minari actor Steven Yeun wants to apologize to Marvel fans after he dipped out of starring in the upcoming ensemble flick Thunderbolts. Speaking with Variety’s Marc Malkin about exiting the superhero project, Yeun cited the SAG-AFTRA strike as one reason for bowing out of the anticipated film.
“I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it,” Yeun explained. “But Jake [Schreier], I know, is going to do an incredible job.”
“It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out,” Yeun adds.
While Yeun is leaving Marvel’s Thunderbolts behind, he’s still interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I wanna do a Marvel movie,” Yeun told Variety, though he did not specify which project he’d like to become a part of.

While “Deadpool 3” might challenge this notion somewhat—especially depending on its-cameos—when franchises change owners or deals end (see Disney buying Fox), often the past is thrown out, and new creators are tasked with starting over. We’re seeing that now with James Gunn’s DC Studios (that will forgo the previous Dceu), we’re seeing it mostly with all the 20th Century Fox Marvel properties that Marvel Studios/Disney will take in a totally new direction.

Updated, 8:15 Am: Amid all the turmoil in the MCU of late, Disney now has one less battle to fight.
After more than two years, Disney and subsidiary Marvel have reached a settlement with the estate of acclaimed comic book artist Steve Ditko. Lawyers for the Mouse House and the Ditko estate filed court papers on December 6 that effectively ended the pricey dispute. A final affirmation of the settlement is expected in the coming weeks.
Represented by pugilistic copyright attorney Marc Toberoff, the Ditko estate in 2021 had sought termination notices on the rights to such luminaries as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Iron Man. Other artists’ families and heirs also challenged the rights to characters created by their family members. Those disputes were resolved earlier this year.
As in previous settlements and resolutions that Disney/Marvel have reached with the likes of the Jack Kirby estate and others, the settlement with the Ditko estate is confidential.

There has been discussion among the executives at Marvel Studios about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This company has struggled at the box office and with production problems with The Marvels.
The studio’s visual effects artists have been unable to keep up with the studio’s large number of productions.
There has particularly been discussion about what should be done with Jonathan Majors after he was charged with assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, on March 25.
Majors played the Marvel Comics villain, Kang the Conqueror, in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
He also appeared as the character in the season two finale of Loki. The episode will also present him as the titular main antagonist of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, coming to theaters on May 1, 2026.

In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Moreso, Marvel Comics fans were harsh to Story's movies, hating their cartoony tone and corny scripts. It's worth acknowledging, however, that Story's...

Hollywood star Jon Hamm is gung-ho to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but said that those decisions get made at such a “high level at this point, definitely above his pay grade.” Asked recently by Screen Rant about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the star replied: “Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits.”
“I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.”
Hamm specifically called out The X-Men and The Fantastic Four as properties that still have a lot of tread on their tires. In terms of characters, he namechecked F4 villain Doctor Doom, reports deadline.com.
“Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me.

So apparently the wait is finally over as we now know who is going to be the first Mr. Fantastic in the Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four. As per the reports from some sources, it is almost confirmed that The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal will be seen in the role of Reed Richards, however, the negotiations are still underway.
We still don’t know who will play the role of the other three fantastic – Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm. Recently, Napoleon actress Vanessa Kirby was rumored to be seen in the role of Sue Storm but again there is no confirmation on that, in fact, actor Mads Mikkelsen is also in talks for a role but no confirmation on that too.

It’s a lean month for new original content on HBO/Max. November will see the return of two scripted series in Julia and Rap Sh!t, both of which are debuting their respective second seasons, but this month’s fresh highlight is likely to be Bookie, a new comedy series from the partnership of The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre, and Nick Bakay. The show tracks an LA bookie called Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco), whose business is in peril as California movies to legalize sports gambling.
Elsewhere in November, there quite a few interesting documentaries to keep an eye on, and two that jump out as “must watch”. The first is Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, which chronicles the aging comedian’s life and career. The second is the previously-released Little Richard: I Am Everything, which tries to peel back the whitewashed canon of Richard Penniman in a true...

Long before Charles Foster Kane ever uttered the word “Rosebud,” people were spending huge amounts of time, effort, and, of course, money trying to track down beloved items from their childhood. There’s something almost indescribably warm about old toys and possessions long gone. We infuse these things with memories of a time when life seemed dreamlike and full of potential—far removed from the soul-crushing responsibilities of adulthood that drain the spark of wonder from our eyes as we slog meaninglessly toward oblivion.
But hey, cheer up because whatever “that thing” from your own past that you’ve convinced yourself is the missing link between you and happiness is merely a click away. One of the good things about adulthood? Some folks are fortunate enough to have in their possession those two oh-so-magical words: disposable income.

Ask any person on the street if they are at least somewhat familiar with comic book legend Stan Lee, and almost always the answer will be a resounding yes.
Lee has become such an icon in not just the world of superheroes, but in just popular culture as a whole. The man has helped create some of the most iconic characters in all of fiction, so naturally, considering the legacy that Lee has left on the world since his passing, it only makes sense for a documentary to be made about his life. However, while I’m sure that a great, honest and detailed documentary about Lee will exist at some point in my lifetime, this is certainly not that.
Regardless of my personal feelings about how this film approached its subject matter, it should be said that this is not a poorly-made documentary. The film is directed by David Gelb,...

It seems mostly everybody has a favorite comic book character. And that certainly doesn’t exclude those within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as actor Ben Mendelsohn, who plays the Skrull Talos on Disney+ series Secret Invasion – has selected his own pick. And no, it’s not Nick Fury – or even a hero, as Doctor Doom ranked as his #1 Marvel character, having made his first appearance in The Fantastic Four #5.
Speaking with The Wrap, Mendelsohn – who played Talos previously in Captain Marvel and in a Spider-Man: Far From Home cameo – cited exactly why he choose Doctor Doom as the best Marvel creation ever. “Victor von Doom is the greatest single character in the entire MCU, bar none. He’s the first character to ever have a substantive backstory that we could understand and that gives context in both the old traditional Cold War mind of state kind of idea and also...

Roy Thomas was hired by Stan Lee in 1965 and succeeded him as Marvel editor-in-chief in 1972 when Lee became the publisher. Here, Thomas examines Stan Lee, the new documentary on Disney+ that has sparked debate over who deserves primary credit for the success of the Marvel Universe and its heroes — Lee or close collaborators such as artists Jack Kirby, whose son Neil has expressed disappointment in the documentary’s sidelining of his father’s contributions.
“Stan Lee was his own greatest creation.”
That’s a line that’s often tossed around these days — the more so since Stan died in late 2018 and isn’t around to respond in person to it — and there’s an argument to be made for it, as anyone who watches the new David Gelb documentary Stan Lee, now streaming on Disney+, can testify.

In November 2001, Ludacris was set to release his third album, “Word of Mouf.” At the same time, however, his debut on film, “The Wash,” was also about to hit theaters. Luda’s role in the DJ Pooh-directed comedy starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg was small. But “The Wash,” along with his goofball antics in several of his music videos, put Luda in front of major league filmmakers such as the late John Singleton and Paul Haggis. In back-to-back films, the rapper became a movie star as Tej Parker in 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious,” followed in 2004 by the Oscar-winning “Crash.” Some 30 more movies would follow.
“The theatricality of my videos, my image — it was a bit of transition, going into acting, playing myself playing the Ludacris persona,” says Luda, credited in film as Chris Bridges. “But ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ was a great way to start, because the year after was when ‘Crash’ came along.

Actress Margot Robbie has reportedly been offered the role of superhero 'The Invisible Woman' , aka 'Susan Storm-Richards' in Marvel Studios developing live-action reboot of "Fantastic Four":
"...'Sue Storm' received her powers after being exposed to cosmic rays in space and was originally known as the 'Invisible Girl'. She possesses two powers: invisibility and force fields.
"Her invisibility power can bend light waves allowing her to render herself and other objects invisible.
"She can also project powerful fields of invisible psionic, hyperspace-based energy for a variety of offensive and defensive effects, including shields, blasts, explosions and levitation.
"Sue plays a central role in the lives of her younger brother 'Johnny Storm', her scientist inventor husband 'Reed Richards', her close friend 'Ben Grimm' and her children, 'Franklin' and 'Valeria'.
She was also romantically attracted to 'Namor the Sub-Mariner', (despite that thing in his nose) and they remain close friends.
