This is the hitmovie Semmelweis from 1994. Stefan de Walle is brilliant in it and it is just pure politics that he did not get an Oscar nomination. Also Sjakie deserves an Academy Award for best Supporting Actor. Especially the legendary quote by Stefan de Walle: "Herr Professor Doktor Klein!" makes all Clint Eastwoods lines look like a joke. Floor Maas' her directing is truly a piece of art and can be compared with greats Like Tarantino, Spielberg and even Alfred Hitchcock. Also the educating part of this motion picture should not be underestimated! Washing your hands while performing a surgery was not very popular in 1993, but this movie made people realize that it can save lives! It is a real shame that Stefan de Walle did not get the international recognition he deserved for his acting, but he will always have a special place in my heart..!
