Life is a misery to slightly bald George T. Foreman (Bill Thomas) who deals with a poor combover and the very few hair that remains in his head goes in different directions and never cover his head. He's ridiculed by everyone he knows, even skinheads mock of him. Life at home with his wife is a boredom with conventional dinners and "good morning's". Until the day he finds the solution of getting a hairpiece.
"Syrup" it's a humored and simple story, but very believable. It's a humored critique on society values where the individual can't find ways to please everybody with his personal choices and tastes but ultimately must learn to be true to himself and not give a damn about what other people think. All that matters is that sometimes we must be pleased with ourselves and with the improvements we want to make even if we have to deal with everyone's mockery and laughs.
Here we find the typical and pleasant Brit humor allied with good performances by the cast and a stand-out role to the great Bill Thomas, who combines comedy and drama with a touch of genius. 9/10
