Enjoyable. Sorta.

Okay, I'll admit something, up front. I watched this show with my then-young daughters for the wrong reason. Yes, it is good to monitor what your kids are watching, and make sure the show is a quality program. But heck, it could have been a show on paint drying. The Landers sisters were in it. That's why I liked the show, period.

Seriously, however, I'll admit it wasn't too bad, for the wee set. I believe that just about any `non-cartoon' educational show, will always be compared to `Barney'. Both this show and many like it, combined singing, with cute costumed actors playing animals, and some an important lesson, or two. However `Barney' with bigger funding and larger market appeal, seemed a much better produced product.

But `Barney' didn't have Judy and Audrey!

A singing and dancing show for kids
littlehouse7 May 1999
This show is almost all singing and dancing, which is very well captured. The kids are excellent. It is designed to empower young people and was the most successful children's program on PBS for the last two years. This is no surprise to me since both my kids love it and watch it regularly. Each program features a location segment which is often the highlight. The "Christmas" show is especially good. "Huggabug" will probably be enjoyed by kids from 0 to 7 and the lessons it teaches are appropriate to that age group.

Huggabug Club is a cheap and obvious rip off of Barney the Dinosaur. If you change Barney to a flower, spider, and a bee, you have Oops a Daisy, Huggabug, and Auntie Bumble from the Huggabug Club. It is exactly like Barney except the kids have syrupy voices and dance like wind-up toys, the writing is even worse. The songs all simply make you want to puke in your soup. The lessons they learn are very basic even for kids, do you really need to spend a whole hour just to teach them several times to pick up their things? Maybe but could you at least do it in a creative way like Sesame Street instead of having poorly singing kids shouting "you don't have to scream you don't have to shout yay!!!!" The poor people in the suits have no idea what they're doing, it is as if they told them to just be happy and dance and/or move around all the time and then later made up whatever dialogue they wanted to and songs and who cares if they're moving appropriately or not, just stick words over it. This show seems like it was written in five minutes on a napkin AFTER it was taped on the way home in the car from the studio. Did I say studio? More like this show was taped in one of those kid's parents' basement.

Great independent show for kids!

This show's use of puppetry and live action sequences, Make this show one to remember! It uses a lot of methods that i have never thought of being used in a masterpiece of a show such as this!

It tackles real-world problems with singing and dancing, Can't get enough that!

I also miss the way that the "bugsters" use their "kid power" to tackle everyday problems.

Themes such as.. Biology, geology, telling the truth, being unique, are just some of the many themes it tackles in this sense!

Overall, if you happen to look on YouTube or buy a VHS of it on amazon, you won't be sorry!

It also comes on the Smile of a Child network at 7:30 am or 9:30 am! catch it! it's worth your time!

I remember watching this show in the mornings when I was 7 or 8. I remember the Landers sisters, Huggabug, Oopsie Daisy, and Bumble bee. This show was really fun to listen to because the songs that they would sing and the really cool adventures they get to do. This show had always talk about having good self-esteem.....my favorite songs are I'm Glad I'm Me, Science is Extraordinary, and Hip-Hop Dancing on the Moon. Especially when the Landers sisters are rapping. God, I really do miss this shows. That's probably why 1995 is just so great....they had really fun neat shows to watch. I just wish they could put it back on air, though. I don't really remember seeing any episodes from 1999-2001 because I don't recall that is was still on PBS back then. I really really miss the old days. The old days was soooooooooooooooooooo much better than these stupid, disgusting days!!!!!
