As 2019 marches along, Hulu has a couple original series that binge watchers will not want to miss in March. “Shrill,” starring “Saturday Night Live’s” Aidy Bryant, is a body-positive comedy that critiques society’s beauty standards and millennial culture. The entire season drops on March 15.
On March 20, fans of true crime will be able to relive the 2015 murder of Dee Dee Blanchard by her daughter, Gypsy, with “The Act.” Starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King as the mother and daughter pair, viewers will surely believe that truth can be stranger than fiction with the new crime anthology series.
Documentary buffs who are scared of heights may need to hold on to something because “Free Solo,” the Oscar winner for best documentary feature, will premiere on March 13. “Shoplifters,” an Academy Award-nominated foreign language film, offers a harrowing look at poverty in Japan, and debuts on March 14.

Columnist, humorist and author Molly Ivins died in 2007, but the new documentary “Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins” reminds us that her particular brand of perspicacity is as vital and as necessary now as it was when she covered the 1968 Democratic Convention or watched George W. Bush rocket from the Texas governor’s mansion to the White House.
Her trenchant observations about corrupt, lazy or flat-out stupid politicians was must reading then, and timeless in our current era. When one of the film’s many interview clips has her noting that the political spectrum in this country doesn’t run left to right, but rather top to bottom, it’s as relevant as anything in tomorrow’s newspaper.
Newspapers, incidentally, play a significant role in Ivins’ life story, as it’s told by director Janice Engel, making her theatrical feature debut. We follow the writer from gawky...

Whether he's breaking into the McCallister's lavish abode in Home Alone as the Wet Bandit, Marv Merchants, or unknowingly instructing a group of cub scouts to piss on a crooked FBI agent as Max Grabelski in Greg Beeman's 1995 comedy Bushwhacked, I must admit that I have something of a soft spot for City Slickers actor Daniel Stern. Is it his luxurious mop of curls that casts…...

It's confession time, folks. I have to admit that, every now and again, I enjoy a good old fashioned family film as a way of clensing my cinematic palate. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the latest blockbuster or Osacar-nominated film as much as the next Schmoe, but innocent romps like Disney's Heavyweights, Camp Nowhere, and even Daniel Stern's Bushwhacked make for great background... Michael Galeota, the child star best known for his work on Disney Channel's The Jersey, died Sunday in California. The 31-year-old was found in his Glendale residence, E! reported, initially attributing his death to natural causes. (The L.A. County Coroner's office told the outlet Galeota dealt with "abdominal pain, hypertension, and high cholesterol.") Further examination is scheduled for later on Tuesday. "[Galeota] was a precious gift — loving, giving, compassionate, joyful and intelligent," wrote his brother Jimmy, on a GoFundMe page created Monday. "His humble nature hid a great compassionate and loving human being, with a huge heart." Galeota was a familiar face in movies and TV shows of the ’90s and early 2000s, including The Baby-Sitters Club, Bailey Kipper's P.O.V., Bushwhacked, Clubhouse Detectives, ER, and, most notably, The Jersey, where he had a starring role that also became his last. At time of publication, Galeota's GoFundMe page had raised...

Some very sad news: screenwriter Michael Goldberg has died, at the age of 55.
Some really sad news. Screenwriter and producer Michael Goldberg has died, from the brain and sinus cancer that he'd been battling for over a year. He was 55 years old.
Goldberg's list of credits include the screenplay to Little Giants, Bushwhacked and Snow Dogs. He also wrote and directed The Lovemaster back in 1997. Yet it's Cool Runnings that's likely to be the project of his closest to many of our hearts. The 1993 comedy remains a firm, witty favourite, and the script - which Goldberg co-wrote with Lynn Siefert and Tommy Swerdlow - was his first work to make it to the big screen.
Rest in peace Mr Goldberg. 55 is no age. And thank you for the chuckles.

Jackass mastermind Johnny Knoxville and comedian/actor Patton Oswalt have signed on for a new comedy to be directed by Todd Rohal, whose last movie The Catechism Cataclysm debuted earlier this year at Sundance and we quite liked. The two stars will be playing brothers who are constantly at odds, but in order to honor their late father, decide to team up to take a scout troop of boys out on a camping trip. [Deadline]
I assume all sorts of hijinks ensue a la Bushwhacked! but unfortunately with less Daniel Stern. Rob Riggle, Patrice O’Neal, and Maura Tierney make up the rest of the announced cast and production on the movie, which Rohal also wrote, begins this week. There’s no official title yet, although the script called it Scout Master, which isn’t the worst title in the world so it could retain that name once its released. Big Beach Films,...
